If Auburn isn't competitive Monday night, what does it say about the SEC this year?

After tonight's game, the SEC will be 4-2 in bowl games thus far.

But let's say Auburn and Missouri both get handled. What will your view of the SEC be?

Eh I don't know if bowls are a great way to determine the best conference. You never know who wants to be there and who doesn't.

How do you judge the conferences then? I mean, it's common to say the SEC is the best because of the National Championships. What if the three best teams in the SEC lose?

BTW - I was wrong, the SEC is 5-2 thus far. I left out A&M.

Even if the top 3 lose the middle of the pack teams are all winning, so one could argue the case they are the best top to bottom. The conference debate will always be a discussion that can't be won. Bowls are part of the discussion but not the end all.

If Auburn gets handled Monday night, it will end the SEC's BCS title-streak at 7, but FSU is from the far Southeast too, so I think it simply shows that the best talent still resides in that area...

SEC is already sitting at 7-2 in this years bowls. Even if Auburn were to lose, a 7-3 bowl season is very very good. Especially when you take into consideration that most bowl tie ins place an SEC 4, 5, or 6 vs another conference's 1,2, or 3, etc.

Not sure why some people think Bama losing overshadows all the other conference victories. If anything, I think it shows that the conference is not as top heavy as some want to believe.

i think auburn/fsu will be a great game.

I think it will just show how good FSU really is. They have dominated every team in their way. I don't think theyve played as tough a schedule as most SEC teams tho

I agree, although it is very tough to gauge how good they really are because of the conference. They completely dominated everyone in their path. Auburn will score, but so will FSU.....I think it's going to be a good game. Barn seems to have the lucky horseshoe this year, so we will see if it still has one more game. The Auburn D isn't dominate, but they seem to stand up when needed. FSU better play a full game or it will be tight at the end. Auburn doesn't go away.

It tells me that schools notoriously known for raiding Georgia High School Talent (Auburn and Florida State) will have a second title within the last 15 years (if it is Florida State) or second in recent years (if it is Auburn)....

Tennessee even got their title in late 90's.........

Georgia Tech even got their national title in early 90's and they usually don't get the top talent in state.....

This doesn't even count Bama's 3 Titles, Florida's 2 Titles, and LSU who are also in the SEC.

What am I getting at? It is simple..

Now you know why Georgia Bulldog fans are pissed off at Richt (they've been putting up with his nonsense for over 13 years).....Its been over 30+ years since they won a title.

The fact that Auburn playing Florida State for the title makes a mockery out of Richt and his entire coaching staff via their recruiting and coaching..

It tells me that I never want to see a BIG 10 team in a major bowl - they should be playing in games prior to Christmas and no undefeated BIG 10 team should be in a title game over a two loss SEC team

How does the East suck? It produced the only team in the Country to beat 2 BCS Bowl Teams, winners at that, and the only team to beat 3 Top 15 teams also. Hmm...

Think Auburn answered the competitive question.... SEC seems strong if Auburn represents....
