If anyone has a worse beat than this, I'd love to hear it

I think this beats um all. I had under 9 in this game and it was 1-1 into the 14 inning. Giants put up a 3 spot and colorado comes back with 5 runs including a grandslam to win the game.

Okay wow. That's a horrible beat for sure. I'm trying to think if it's as bad as Mr. Rodgers beat though. Real close. I guess it depends on how much you had at stake. Both absolutely awful beats, but I think Rodgers' loss is tougher to take since the guy hit a half-court 3 pointer. That's super shocking.

You had that game too from 2010?? I brought it up in one of my daily articles a few months ago hoping someone would remember it but no one else did. I share your pain in that one.

However, there was an eerily similar bad beat this year in a Giants/Braves game (I remember Vogelsong was one of the starters, Minor might've been the other) that was 1-1 going into extras... you can guess the rest

I'm sure some of you had the wrong side of one of the most ridiculous endings I've ever seen. I had a very small bet on the wrong but winning side of the game. I'd already lost big that week, so winning the miniscule bet didn't mean anything to me. It was one of the Arizonas, favored by 12. I gave the 12. Overtime. Arizona scored 1st, going up by 7, then intercepted on the other team's do-or-die possession and instead of just falling down, the player risking fumbling and losing possession, ran it all the way back to win by 13.

Well it's not sports but I have a beat that is almost mathematically impossible to beat.
Given when it happened makes it ten times worse. Poker tourney and there are only 12 players left. Winner gets $100k. I am one of the big stacks and look down at KK in middle position. I raise and small blind calls. Flop comes K99. Small blind pushes all in. I snap call of course. Turn 9, river 9 and he has AQ. I went from easily the chip leader to 8 big blinds. I almost cried I was so angry...

I would like to add to the worst beats. Last night I hammered the UNDER in the Reds/Giants game. 3-1 going in to the top of the 9th inning. Reds score 2 runs on wild pitches. 5-1 now bottom of the ninth. San Fran gets on base and men in scoring position on another wild pitch. 2 outs now and 2 strikes and a wild pitch now scores a run and of course ends the game with a strike on the next throw....Wanted to throw my TV out the window.

Wisc-UNLV I think, in Nevada. Wisc killing them, running over them, running clock. 8 minutes to go, all power went off. Declared no game.

I had one but was in college basketball last year. It was the big east tourney. Forget exactly what team I had but all they had to do was inbound the pass. The jerkoff throws it out of bounds then makes a nonsense foul that puts them to the line. Misses the first but makes the last to miss cover by a half. Ugh wish I could remember exactly which two teams played that day. Not to mention the guy missed a dunk and a break away lay up leading up to that point.

Oddly enough, I think I remember someone in the RX Forum discussing that awful beat last season. Can't remember who it was, but it does stand out. Tough beat indeed.

I was on that game. Absolutely sickening.

In terms of worse beats, I once had a greyhound twin-tri paying 49k. The dog I needed for 3rd was 5 lengths ahead of 4th about 50 feet from the wire and lost 3rd in a photo. There were no winners and I would've had the only ticket.

I know someone who once had the whole field in the last leg of a pick 6 coming back for about a half million. I can't remember the specific details, but it ended up being declared a "no race" and they wouldn't pay off on the ticket other than consolations.

Make it a point to check Stanton's odds for most Home Runs for 2013 The linemakers may base the odds on Stanton hitting 37 Home Runs this year but don't take into consideration the number of games he missed this year.

If you think there is no way his HR odds for next season are based on the number of games played/missed this year, let me tell you how I won 10,000 a three years ago with Ron Howard. I noticed he hit only 22 Home Runs the year before, which is what I think the odds makers based his odds on, he was 40-1. The mistake the odds makers made was to not consider when Ron Howard was promoted to the Phillies from AAA in mid July. He hit 22 Home Runs in just a little over 2 and a half months. When I saw he was 40-1 I figured he would have hit over 40 Home Runs had he spent the full season with the Phillies. The guys who had over 40 Home Runs the year before had odds ranging from 6-1 to 12 to 1. And here's Ron Howard who had about thee same number of at bats per homerun as the other guys and he is at 40 -1. I played $250 at 40 to 1 for a ten dime payout. This year I liked what the A's pitchers were doing in spring training and all I needed was for the A's to beat out three teams to win the West. I only bet $80 at 50 to 1 and my balance just went up by $4,000 Too years ago I had a $100 future on San DIego to win the NL West at 50-1. With three games left with San Francisco all they had to do was win just one game to win the Division. Count that as another bad beat. But I can't really complain, after winning on Ron Howard and the Oakland A's, 2 of the past 4 years. It will take a lot of bad beats to lose those winnings back.

The moral of this story is to take a good look at Stanton's odds for most Home Runs next season. If they are about the same as the players who hit around 35 Home Runs there is your play with a good chance to make up for what he did this year. You won't get 40-1 like Ron Howard did because he only had 22 Home Runs, but I could see Stanton getting between 15 and 20 to one, instead of 6 to 12 to one had he played more game.

As for Zombies asking if anyone had a worse beat than he did. I had a three team NFL parley last Sunday for $200 which would have paid over $ 1400. The first two hit, leaving just Green Bay minus 2.5. Giving Seattle a touchdown and also missing the offensive pass interference, well that's my worst beat in a long time. Except for San Diego losing all 3 games to the Giants to end the season two years ago.

Good luck playing Stanton next year. Remind me, I think I'll be on him too.

You got 40 to 1 on this guy:

That sounds like a ripoff buddy..lol

I didn't bet this game but was watchng. A few yrs back Mets vs Atl in MLB playoffs. Game tied. Game def under. All the way. Mets hit a Grand Slam. Games goes over.

No Wait.

Fans flood the field. Umps only count the winning run and everybody runs off the field due to crazy fans-thereby keeping the game under.

If you had the Over, I think that is worst beat ever.

That description of why they didn't count the 2 runs is incorrect. Game stayed under because the backup catcher Pratt, who was the runner on first, stopped at 2nd and hugged and tackled Ventura as he arrived at 2nd. I don't believe either guy ever touched the plate. Because Ventura was ruled to have passed Pratt, their 2 runs were not allowed to score. In addition, I completely disagree that it was a bad beat. My opinion is that if you played under and got beat because of a Grand Slam in the bottom 15th, that would've been a horrible beat. If you had over and won that way, you were lucky as shit.

I'll NEVER forget this beat for as long as I live:

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200411070rav.htm

I was in college at the time, had a great weekend. I was drinking with a few buddies and decided to place a $2,500 wager on Cleveland since I was up. Cleveland was down by 7 and already covering. They drove all the way down to the Baltimore 5 yard line with .45 seconds left in the game. Jeff Garcia throws a pick in the end zone to Ed Reed, not only in the end zone, but 6 yards deep. Of course, Ed Reed doesn't take a knee and runs it back 106 yards!

Damn, this gets me pissed off just thinking about it!!
