American Idol is becoming almost as big as football. If you count the USA only. The weekly ratings is better than any single football game during the entire season or the playoffs, beat only by the SuperBowl itself and not by much. The final show will be watched in the USA with almost the ratings as the SUPER BOWL. The final show is projected to get more votes this year than the presidential election did in 2004. It cost advertiser on a weekly bases 1.3 million dollars for a 30 second spot and thats not counting the final show which will probably be close to 2mill per spot. This is SuperBowl type revenue.

The show gets bigger and bigger each year. I promise you if Fox had to choose between football or American Idol they would drop the NFL like a hot potato.

Well it is popular for women. Football is popular with men!

Also, there really isnt a fair way to compare the two. American Idol happens 1 or 2 times a week, while one could easily watch 10-15 football games each week.

American Idol wouldnt rank a whole lot higher than Monday Night Football ESP if they were on the same night!

Its getting bigger and bigger. Cheaper for FOX to run AI than FOOTBALL. I think AI is the most $$$$ show in the history of TV.

The only difference is, football will ALWAYS be here....American Idol will get boring after a few years and fade away.

to be honest I think its Silly and BORING

I have not watched this show more than 3 times since it started a few years ago. My daughters love it and I watched the finale I think twice with them. I can't comprehend how anyone could watch a full season of that show.

i dont know dude. as they say, music makes the world go round. it aint like some cheesy fad survivor show or something. music will always be here, its been here since the beginning of time, and will never go away.

the winners of this show have always proven to be legit stars, at least in terms of selling records. you're watching a music career unfold before your eyes, and its in americas hands. i dont see this show going anywhere for a long while.

10 years from now A.I will still be on the air and wagering levels on the event will be beat only by the Superbowl itself. MARK IT DOWN
