Here is another thing I dont get, the fact they think there are more important games this time of year. Can you also imagine how many key games would have been played like on days like yesterday for playoff spots. Instead we get a late saturday in November which sucked. Other then Oklahoma playing there was anything to get excited vor as most teams have no shot. There would have been a dozen games yesterday with playoff implications. There is no argument for BCS fans, none, That makes it a beter system. Yesterday had to be one of the most boring late season saturdays in years. If you had a playoff there would have been 5X the games that meant something yesterday. That argument by the BCS supporters cracks me up the most.

I lived in Michigan and no one and I mean no one cared about the Motor City bowl. They couldnt literally give tickets away to this event. Give them 1 of the the 15 big games and it would sell out in minutes every year.

Here is the problem: second rate programs like an Iowa, who are a half step behind hte major teams are scared of this system because they cant go and have the 4 loss season party at the end of the year. Thier coach and priesident of the university dont want and need the pressure where most likely your season is going to end in a dissapointment on the field with them (and all the others) losing their lat game and fans being upset. This last way was cool in 1964. It allows half the teams to walk off the filed happy after the last game and keeps the pressure off of them.

Smoking that shit called reality...if they sit, they sit....Just my opinon, but the regular season has to mean something...

If Kermit had his wish, he would probably just like to omit the regular season and begin the season with the playoffs.....................

By the way, that is what we have with the CFB right now, and its GREAT!

Another thing, for those of you promoting an 8 game playoff..........you know damn well in less than 10 years they would expand it to 16 teams and then 24-32 making the playoffs and it would become garbage just like the CBB Big Fraud.

No major sports crowns a more deserving champion then CFB..........long live the BCS.

By the way, just to make it clear, Im not totally against having a playoff in CFB, if its done right and correctly............however, I still dont think it would be better then what we have right now. Well, it would be, if done correctly..........BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN, THEY WILL MAKE SIMILAR TO THE BIG FRAUD AND THEN WERE ALL SCREWED.

If they do constitute an 8-game playoff, .......THEY WILL STILL KEEP THE MANY iF NOT ALL THE CURRENT BOWLS!!!!

The same amount of teams will still be playing in the postseason. For instance, with the season Iowa has had this year, they would probably be playing in the same bowl game against the same opponent...........with or without an 8 game playoff in place.

Having all of these bowls is what makes Bowl season so fun. With all wagering aside, i love watching different match-ups from different conferences. acc vs big east, motor city bowl, number 3 from big ten vs number 3 from sec.i will be at the capital one bowl, #2 vs #2 in big 10 vs sec, what a match up that will be. thats great football! there is nothing else like cfb that exists in america.

You have a 8 team playoff already in place but its not used. Use the 4 BCS games as the quarterfinal games. That way 3 of them now would mean something. Your left with 4 teams and only 4 teams in the country playing extra games and changing the way things are now.Wouldn't that satisfy all the arguments of how bad this system is ?

i have heard this argument before, but i still think this wouldnt help solve the problem that everyone wants solved with a playoff system. its simply having a playoff system to have it, because obama said so, etc. there would still be no solution as to who gets in the bcs and who gets left out. utah in or out? ball state in or out? so on and so forth....

also, with this playoff system, the sponsors of the bowl games such as fedex, nokia, etc would want a "proclaimed and distinct winner", and i dont think they can get that having the same team win multiple bowl games

8 team playoff
All teams must be ranked in the top 16 of the BCS to be eligible
Winners of Big 10, Pac 10, Big 12, SEC, ACC, Big East get automatic bids
One of Notre Dame, WAC, MWC, or other conf get in if two are ranked in top 16. (Play in game)
Two of Notre Dame, WAC, MWC, or other conf get in if all 3 are ranked in top 16 (Play in game between the lower 2 rankings)

If there are extra spots (Most likely will be) - next teams in BCS rankings get in.

Get rid of E/W N/S championship games. Make championship games the top two BCS ranked team in the full conference.

As of now, the scenario would be:

Alabama/Florida winner
Texas/Oklahoma winner
Penn State
Oregon State if they win out and make it to the top 16 or USC if OSU loses
ACC winner if they make it to the top 16
Big east winner if they make the top 16
Utah/Boise winner in play in game

Top 1 to 4 from this group (Depending on whether OR ST, ACC, Big east make top 16)

Florida/Alabama loser
Texas/Oklahoma loser
USC
Ohio State
Texas Tech
Georgia
Utah/Boise loser

The games mean nothing zero zip zilch nada.

You would have that every week and it would be the best iof the best.

I want at least bare minimum a 16 team playoff and prefer even more teams. Why the hell not. Here is where another lame reason will come out. They have 32 team playoff in Michigan HS and play a 9 game regular season and that is high school.

I guarantee if and when they switch to a playoff people will look back at this era and laugh how stupid all this was. It is time to move on. Things change.

This is such a joke arguing this. When the day comes all you BCS supporters will not believe the excitement this will cause. It will be the biggest sports spectacle in all of sports but until then we have this crap.

Nice season Utah, now go home with that fed ex trophy or whatever it is. We voted you out. Even saying that is a flippin joke.

Now time to watch a real sport (NFL), where champions are crowned on the field.

Sean1,

Your post provides evidence why we need to keep things just as they are.

To even have one shred of credibility, each team should have 6 home and 6 road games. None of this 8 home game crap. Also no two games from the FCS either. Screw TT.

wow. contradicting yourself here. if your argument is that the games mean nothing, you are in trouble. you are saying that instead we should have 12 weeks of meaningless games, just as in 4 months of meaningless college basketball games basically.

now time to go watch and see who the league/refs wants to win today in the nfl. i wonder what is in the script for this week.....hopefully they do a little better than last weeks pittsburgh debacle, which i had no money on btw.

Explain to me Ball St Utah, and Boise's role in the BCS? In hoops, they would have a chance in the tourney. They have no chance here, so yes they are meaningless.

Didn't understand anything in your Post at all. 6 of the teams in the 4 BCS games are conference champions of the 6 BCS leagues. other 2 would be at large picks based on criteria your using now. very simple solution

You are right Fish, it's better to have 3 undefeated teams left out and let a bunch of coaches and computers guess who's best between Penn State, USC, Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas. What a complete joke.

I'm waiting for a year when some team left out refuses to go to the crappy BCS bowl.

Look at Auburn a few years back - did they not belong? Undefeated with 3 top 20 picks in their backfield. Can any champion ever say they had that?

Joe Pa has had 5 undefeated seasons and only 2 titles (I believe 2 of the seasons were back to back without a title)

Complete joke

they have their chance. schedule some big out of conference games. i guarantee you that ball state would be delighted to play in a bcs game whether its the sugar bowl or whatever

Who the hell wants to play any of them? Utah won at Michigan and beat Oregon St.

Boise beating OU a couple of years ago guaranteed they never get a good nonconference game anymore.

And speaking of OU, the Big 10 takes a lot of crap about their BCS record. Check out the last few OU bowl games and get back to me.

Get ready to pile on FW....there will be a Florida/Oaklahoma game as I advertised back in early September...

Also check out Ohio States non-conference schedule the past couple of years...

USC and Texas were on it, along with the cupcakes.
