Let's be honest. In the USA a great NBA player would trade a gold Medal for an NBA title 7 days a week.
An American PGA golfer would rather win a major then a ryder cup.
A MLB player would much rather win a World Series ring then whatever it is they call that new shit thing that's baseballs version of the World Cup.
For the most part american athletes treat world competition as an afterthought.
And this is not just players. For the most part fans of American teams would rather there team win a title in the nfl or NBA then a gold medal.
For instance I would be much more stoked if the Saints won a Super Bowl then I would be if America won some type of World Cup version American style football.
So my question is do soccer fans get more excited when there country wins a championship then they do when there favorite professional soccer team wins a championship?
If that's the case that's opposite of over 90% of Americans
