Brand new season is underway in the OHL, and Pinny has been nice to grace us with lines (after they responded they weren't going to be doing it this year due to lack of interest) Anyways, I did really well last year on the OHL, as I'm knowledgable in this league, being from Sault Ste. Marie, which is one hockey mad town.
I'll be keeping all my picks in this thread, and will add a new thread each month, so it doesn't get too long. Alright, 2 picks for tonight:
Record: 0-0, 0 units (1 unit = $50)
Sudbury Wolves -116 (1 unit)
Already big line movement, as Sudbury moved from a dog to a fave. But really, they shouldn't have been a dog in the first place. Top Centre and Anaheim draft pick Eric O'Dell will be ready to play today. Oshawa is a one man team this year, without Brett MacLean, all they have for offense is Tavares. Their defence, which was terrible last year (5th worse in OHL) hasn't improved at all. Sudbury is a much improved team from last year, and I expect a packed house and a jacked up crowd tonight. Sudbury should take their opener.
Guelph Storm -119 (1 unit)
My hometown Hounds start the year on the road in Guelph. The Hounds lost a ton of starters from last year, including Dustin Jefferey, Wayne Simmonds up front, Josh Godfrey on defence, and Kyle Gajewski in net. This year, the Hounds will be relying on a few youngsters, so it's going to take them a while to get going. Whats even worse for the Hounds, and will be a distraction, is some off ice turmoil. Behn Robertson, a promising rookie, was sent packing this week after some off-ice issues. Apparently he broke curfew by partying, may have had some booze with his teammates. It's not just Robertson, but a few players have been involved as well, In any event, this distraction coupled with a decent Storm team in their home opener should lead to a Guelph win
