I dont think I would be able to pull the trigger on the Brewers today. The thing about this is that I am convinced that Sheets is going through a dead arm right now. He hasnt been injured yet this season, so he has thrown more innings than he did in any of the last 3 seasons. Also, he has had a rough hitsory against the Cardinals. It isnt that he has exactly pitched bad, but the Cardinals have seemed to shut the Brewers down in all of his starts. Wellemeyer has been pitching great, and I dont believe that he has lost in his last eight starts. This is such a crucial game, that I would imagine the scoring to be relatively low. The Brewers struggled with the Cardinals last time these two teams played even though the Brewers won all four and have won the last six. The thing about it though, was that the Cardinals blew 9th inning leads in 3 of the 4 games. I think this game is a total toss-up and obviously the line reflects that also. With Sheets poor history against the Cardinals, and him having a tough time in his last 6 starts, I dont see how making a play on the Brewers would make much sense. I also cant imagine betting a Cardinals team that has shown the ability to blow games they had in hand against this Brewers team. Ill be laying off this one, but good luck to you with whatever you choose.

Braves & Cubs
I like the Braves today because I think Jair is going to be a tough match-up for the Marlins. The live and die by the HR and he has only surrendered one in his last 51 and 1/3 IP. The Braves have traditionally had the Marlins number with the Marlins going 15-36 in their last 51 games in Atlanta. The Braves have won 6 of the last 8 these two teams have played so far this season with Jair going 1-1 and throwing 6 innings both times. I think he should do a good job limited this offense today while the Braves bats should get to Olsen who has stuggled badly on the road this season with an ERA over 2.5 points higher than at home. The Braves have hit left-handed pitching much better than right over the last 10 days, and I expect that to continue tonight.
Im playing on the Cubs because I think this will be a solid start from Zambrano. After two shaky starts, he was able to right the ship in his last outing and get a win. The Cubs have hit Snell very well historically including Soriano who is the jump-start for this Cubs offense. Fukudome has hits in 4 of his last 5 ABs and will get a chance at another right-hander tonight. With DeRosa and Ramirez swingins the bats as well as they are, I expect the Cubs to move to 12-1 in their last 13 road games.

I saw that Salty, I was thinking about playing both the Rays and the Diamondbacks Under. Too many bad signs going both ways. I think I might add me the Diamondbacks Under though in a little bit. The pitchers that should pitch after Webb tonight have actually thrown very well as of late. That being Qualls and Pena. The Diamondbacks offense had been ugly as of late too but the fact that Dunn has hit about 17 HRs this season against the Padres worries me.
Good luck with the Brewers Eps. It should be the hair ass, but the Cardinals have won these sorts fo games all season long.

The Celtics [team stats] announced today that they have signed first-round draft pick J.R. Giddens.
The 6-foot-5, 215-pound swingman from the University of New Mexico is expected to help fill the void left by the departure of free agent James Posey, who joined New Orleans July 16. Posey is the only major piece the defending champions lost in the offseason, and Giddens, as well as fellow rookie Bill Walker and free agent signee Darius Miles, will be called upon to fill Posey’s role

That said, the Griz need talent. Randolph would beef up a thin power forward corps of Hakim Warrick and rookie Darrell Arthur. They’ve got a group of “nice guys” so adding one knucklehead in Randolph shouldn’t be a big deal. Although second-year head coach Marc Iavaroni struggled at times effectively communicating with players, he is credited with helping Phoenix big man Amare Stoudemire take his game to the next level.
$$ Portland has been calling. The Trail Blazers want a point guard and are willing to part with Travis Outlaw (Starkville native) to get a floor general from the Griz. It’s probably more likely that the Blazers would want Conley — and not Kyle Lowry — in this scenario because Conley is the purest point guard in the bunch and Portland could pull off a reunion with former teammate Greg Oden.
If that’s the case, the Griz would need more than Outlaw in return. But I don’t believe trading Conley is a wise move. Trading Conley would put the Griz back at square one, again searching for a dynamic point guard to compensate for the loss of the GOOD Jason Williams.
And why would Griz give up on a smart, physically gifted point guard so quickly? So that Mayo can handle the ball? Take away Conley’s quirky injuries and remember he’s just 20 years old, and the Griz would be wise to keep him. My guess is that they will given Conley was a deal breaker in attempts to get the right to draft Michael Beasley.
