3* UNLV Rebels
The Sun Devils are in one of their biggest lock ahead spots of the entire season this year. ASU has had their eye on the Georgia Bulldogs for quite some time and this game is one that the Rebels will need desperatly after a tough loss to the Utes last week. UNLV hasnt shown much of a pass rush this season, not even registering a sack in their first two games, but those numbers may be a bit confusing considering they have played two teams that dont surrender many sacks. Dorel is a very good moving quaterback for the Aggies, and Utahs quick strike offense in the passing game doesnt surrender much either.
When watching the Devils so far this season, there are a couple things that I have noticed with them. The Suns Devils CANNOT protect their QB. This young offensive line struggled last season to protect Carpenter, and have shown no signs in improving yet this year. The Devils also struggle to move the ball on the ground without Herring in the line-up as Nance has shown consistantly his fear of getting hit and refuses to take the ball hard through the middle. Erickson was a fucking idiot last week, and got Herring hurt in garbage time with him tweaking his hammy late in the 4th quarter. Do not expect him to play this week much at all. He got the reps they wanted, not its time to get him healthy. A
nother thing that should be noted in ASUs last outing was their inability to capatize in the red zone. The failed miserably against the Cardinals last week leaving plently of points out on the board. I also dont expect the Sun Devils to be very sharp this week. Considering they have Georgia on deck next week, and they will not have as much practice time this week. For those that do not know, once Elways son committed to ASU, they were granted an air conditioned dome to practice in from a unnamed donor. Who do you think that was? Well, we had some huge stroms out here last week and the bubble was knocked over.
Because ASU is self-insured, there must be a board meeting before they can grant the money to reconstruct it. This means less time for practice. Also, so far this season ASU has worn teams down in the second half because they were unaccustomed to the heat. Both NAU and Stanford hung tough before becoming victims of the heat in the 2nd half. I dont expect this with the UNLV team that has seen the same heat up in Nevada. Between this being a total look ahead, the lack of practice time, and Arizona St. issues on offense....I just dont see them covering this large of a number.
3* Mississippi St
Todd looked better in his second start for the Auburn Tigers last week, but now he is going to play a tough Mississippi St. defense in his frist road SEC start. He looked like a deer in headlights in his first game this season, and I expect a similar reaction in his first road game. Auburn has a huge game on deck against LSU, and I dont think they will be fully committed to this game on Saturday. Croom and MSU have given Auburn isssues in the past, and I expect similar things this week. Auburn has shown to have major issues holding on to the football on offense, and I wouldnt want to back a turnover prone team playing their first road SEC game with a new QB while laying over 10. I expect this line to move more as I do the ASU game so I will wait on this one also.
Looking to add another 3* play later in the week, but need to see how some injuries unfold later on in the week. Best of luck to everyone.
