I think the NBA draft should be a 100% lottery.

Put 30 balls in the hopper.
Do it live. The ratings would be unreal.
Every team gets 1 ball.
Pull them out 1 ball at a time.
The one that comes out first picks 30th.
Then 29 ,28, 27 etc all the way till you get to 1.
You could do it in a big arena like the NFL draft.

After every ball 29 teams fans cheer and 1 teams fans cry.
This happens 29 times. This would be can't miss tv.

This would eliminate any chance of any team ever hoping to lose games.

I mean I payed money this year several times to go watch the Pelicans play hoping they lose . This is just not right .
When you are in basketball hell you can't even pull for your team to win.

At the very least take all the teams that miss the playoffs and give them 1 ball each.

But I'm in favor of just a free for all all 30 teams.

Its the only way to remove any chance of intentionally pulling against your team to lose .

Not really. Very rare and if so you are only talking about the very last game of the season. In the NBA you have Teams that tank for the entire season.

Maybe the teams that get the 30th pick will get more salary cap money and it reduces a little with each pick so the teams that get low draft pics will get a higher salary cap so they can sign more free agents and the teams with the lower pics get lower salary cap.

That would be a great way to balance things.

So the team that picks 30th gets the most salary cap and the team that picks 1st gets the least

When you can 100% predicted between 4 teams who's going to win it all that's not parity.

Try doing that in football or baseball. Sure you might get it right but some years but nothing like basketball.

What you're proposing would make it worse. The best thing I can say about it is that it would probably cause the NBA to shrink the number of teams.

draw the lottery out of all the non playoff teams, and give all them the same percentage. Sure some teams might rather be last one out rather than last one in playoffs, but couldn't really see teams tanking to do this, plus owners love the extra post season revenue even of just one round.

+1 Teams like Golden State shouldn't have a shot at the number 1 pick. Doing non playoff teams would actually create more parity too than there is now, because teams that are close could be competitive quicker.

I'm opposite. The lottery is one reason why there is little parity in the NBA. There were only really 4 teams that had a shot all year. Should be a true draft with the worst team picking first.
