I think if Maddux can win 10 games this year, and their pitching staff stays healthy, I wouldnt want to face them. MADDUX, ZAMBRANO, PRIOR, and WOOD.

Without a doubt. They would have won it last year if it wasnt for the injuries. I am talking World Series.

Obviously its not as good as what they had, losing the underacheiving Clement, ad Madduz a year older, and Wood and Prior battling back...I don't think its as good as it appeared and certainly not as deep now...

Zambrano was the only pitcher who lived up and actually surprised some...

Cubs sucked because the had no closer, and couldnt play little ball at all, couldnt put runners in motion, couldnt play solid fundamental baseball...

Cubs won't miss Clement, obviously wouldn't need in a playoff. All they need is a healthy Wood and Prior, along with Zambrano. Don't worry about Maddux. If he can just avoid a horrid start he'll have a better year. He had a great 2nd half last year.

from an offensive standpoint, they need Nomar to kick it up a notch...

Cubs fans,

Lets be realistic here! Cubs have a nice pitching staff on paper but besides Maddux who should be counted on less and less imo, there is not one of these guys who have even won 20 in a season let alone like 16 if I am correct. They all have outstanding stuff and always find a way to lose though a lot of that can be due to closer and lack of hitting. D2 is all fired up about this season thinking Cards fold but I will tell you that I am even more confident they won't beat the Cards at this point. What in the hell has Chicago done besides resign their middle infield and lose Clement and Alou. Hendry has failed to address the teams needs in any capacity. They want to trade Sosa but if they do there is no one to replace his offense out there. They will probably get Maggs but he is only replacing Alou and I question his health until proven otherwise. All in all they still have done nothing to improve their station to station offense which is moving runners over, bunting, and stealing a base. Still way too many strike outs in that lineup imo with not enough production when not striking out. Cubs imo will finish 2nd or 3rd once again this year based on what I see on paper as they have gotten worse not better imo.
