Governor Mike Pence is a lifelong Hoosier with legal, small business and policy experience. He was elected the 50th Governor of the State of Indiana in 2012 and inaugurated January 14, 2013..

Governor Pence is dedicated to continuing Indiana on a pathway to success through fiscal responsibility, economic development and educational opportunity for every Hoosier child.

Since taking office in 2013, Pence has achieved the largest state tax cut in Indiana history while also lowering the business personal property tax and corporate income tax to strengthen the state’s competitive edge in attracting new investment and good-paying jobs for Hoosiers. He has expanded school choice, increased educational opportunity for Hoosier families by signing into law the first State funding for pre-K education in Indiana, and addressed Indiana’s skills gap by making career and technical education a priority in every Indiana high school. And, because roads mean jobs here in the Crossroads of America, under his leadership the state has invested more than $800 million in new money for roads and bridges in Indiana.

The Governor has worked with the Indiana General Assembly to craft an honestly balanced budget that maintains strong reserves for the State and continues to generate a surplus. This fiscal discipline has helped Indiana maintain its AAA credit rating and earn a global reputation as a great place to do business.

Governor Pence manages a State employee workforce of approximately 28,000 and a State budget of $30.6 billion. He oversees the duties of the executive branch as the state’s chief executive officer, recommends and reviews legislation with members of the Indiana General Assembly, and also serves as the commander-in-chief of the Indiana National Guard.

Prior to being elected governor, Pence represented Indiana’s Sixth Congressional District in Congress. First elected in 2000 and earning a sixth term in 2010, Pence brought his Hoosier sensibility to the table and quickly established a record of serving his constituents and championing fiscal responsibility, smaller government and economic growth—skills and values he has brought with him to state government.

Pence’s leadership and legislative accomplishments resulted in him being elected unanimously by his colleagues to serve as House Republican Conference Chairman and Chairman of the House Republican Study Committee.
A strong supporter of the military, Pence has made a priority of reducing veteran unemployment and, while in Congress, he visited Hoosier soldiers in Iraq and/or Afghanistan every year since hostilities began.

Pence was born and raised in Columbus, Indiana, graduated from Columbus North High School, went on to graduate from Hanover College in 1981 and earned his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in 1986.

Governor Pence and First Lady Karen Pence have been married since 1985 and currently live in the Governor’s Residence. They have three adult children, Michael, Charlotte and Audrey.

Yeah, nearly perfect, lol. They don't call you Witless Willlie for nothing. Good thing he's snagged the worthless GOP VP slot, 'cause he sure as hell wasn't gonna win re-election. Another conservative douchebag whose approval ratings are headed south:

Indiana Governor Mike Pence’s approval ratings in Indiana have dropped into the 40s in 2016 polling, which experts in that state largely attribute to his socially conservative positions on LGBTQ issues and abortion, souring women on his leadership.
Despite Pence’s sodden popularity back home, Roll Call is now reporting, through a source, that Pence, Indiana’s governor since 2012, will be Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick. Officially, Trump is not announcing his decision until Friday, although Pence’s absence from the Republican National Convention speaker list released Thursday is also fueling speculation of a Trump/Pence ticket.
Pence is a governor (first elected in 2012), a former Congressman, and a former talk radio host. Trump was drawn by Pence’s Capitol Hill experience, his “calm” demeanor, and their chemistry, Roll Call said. The Indianapolis Star says it has confirmed the report that it’s going to be Trump/Pence.

Donald Trump is reportedly set to announce Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate. Pence has had a “divisive” tenure as governor thanks in part to his efforts to limit reproductive rights in his home state and his support for a controversial “religious freedom” bill that could have given businesses license to discriminate against LGBT people, according to Indiana journalists who have covered him for years.
In interviews with Media Matters in recent days, several Indiana journalists highlighted that Pence currently sports a low favorability rating for an incumbent Republican in the state. Most of his support problems stem from a handful of unpopular policies, the first being an attempt to create what amounted to a government-run news service in 2013 in which the state would have sought to collect and filter news for reporters.
“The state tried to create this misnamed statewide news service called Just In that would essentially consolidate a lot of the state news services and give the governor an opportunity to put his spin on the kind of stories that should be covered,” recalled Ed Feigenbaum, who writes the popular Indiana Legislative Insight newsletter.
“Unfortunately, the media got a hold of the memo and the content before he was able to define it. His people were poorly equipped to respond to that, it was really the first misstep of his governorship.”
After that idea was dropped, Pence found himself at the center of a nationwide controversy for signing legislation that was widely viewed as an opportunity to “make it easier for religious conservatives to refuse service to gay couples.”
The anti-LGBT law, known as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, or RFRA, was enacted more than a year ago, but was quickly amended to mitigate the law's impact after it caused a firestorm. But reporters say the anger it sparked from residents and business leaders still has not subsided. Many were upset when it sparked boycotts of local events and caused some major companies to rethink expansion plans in Indiana.
“It’s something that has cost him support, has cost him campaign contributions,” said Jim Shella, a political reporter at WISH-TV in Indianapolis. “RFRA was seen as a threat to the business community here. It’s caused him to lose support from Republicans, from donors and certainly made him a divisive character here from the perspective of Democrats and a lot of independents.”
More recently, he championed an abortion bill that was seen as among the strictest in the country and even drew complaints from some Republicans in the state legislature, according to reporters.
The law, which was recently blocked by a federal judge following a legal challenge by the ACLU and Planned Parenthood, includes provisions that would bar abortions sought due to genetic abnormalities and require that all fetal remains from abortions or miscarriages at any stage of pregnancy be buried or cremated.
“With the RFRA debate here and the latest abortion bill, it definitely has solidified his support on the conservative side,” said Niki Kelly, a 17-year statehouse reporter for the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette. “But it also abandoned some of the moderates and independents and made it tough for him here.”
Shella agreed: “Even some of the people who voted for the bill predicted it was unconstitutional. There were a number of pro-life Republican women who got up to speak against the bill in the Indiana state House of Representatives."
Several Hoosier State reporters say Pence, who has been in office since 2013 after a decade in Congress, is not always forthcoming to reporters beyond talking points.
“It is hard to get a direct answer out of him,” said Zach Osowski, statehouse reporter for the Evansville Courier & Press. He comes up with what he wants to say and he sticks to it. It’s frustrating for some people. It’s kind of robotic.”
Osowski said national reporters should know “he is going to stick to the talking points. If he is picked, [the Trump campaign] will pick how to approach things and he will not deviate from that, he is a hard-line party guy.”
Brandon Smith, statehouse bureau chief for Indiana Public Broadcasting, agreed.
“He sticks to his talking points, but he does it almost to his own detriment,” said Smith. “When he needs to break from those and give a real answer, he seems unwilling or perhaps even unable to do that. … It’s been frustrating for us because you only get one or two lines from him and they don’t change.”
Due to a state law, Pence will now have to abandon his reelection campaign this year, though state reporters say he might be glad to given the current state of the race.
He is polling in the 40% range and is in “a virtual dead heat” with Democrat John Gregg, a former state speaker of the house whom he beat four years ago.
“For a guy to be a solid Republican and in a state that is solidly red running against a guy that he beat four years ago and he’s in trouble in the polls tells me he’s been divisive,” said Shella of WISH-TV. “His leadership is being questioned.”
Smith of Indiana Public Broadcasting said those issues and Pence’s general approach has lowered his popularity.
“While he was highly-regarded coming into the job of governor, the perception has been that his handling of the job of governor has not been great,” said Smith. “While he is leading in most polls, he is struggling and not leading by that much. His unfavorables are higher than his favorables. In such a Republican state as Indiana … it says that the perception of him as governor has not been favorable.”

Getting Pence IMO is a real plus for the ticket. When #nevertrump reached a fever pitch a week or two
before the Indiana primary, I was scared that most of the Republican elite were going to be able to give
Trump the Goldwater treatment when he was forced to pick some obscure NY member of the House of
Representatives as the VP pick! I realized Christie, Newt & or Sessions were orbits better than Miller
but still thought someone in the in group of the party leaders was needed & Pence is that type.

All you'd hear on CNN really up until the last week was 1) #NT had enough votes to unbind Trump delegates,
they needed 28 they got 12 2) Imagine the last 4 standard bearers would not attend the convention. Whoop-
de-damn do!

George Bush the first never spoke at the 2008 or 2012 convention. Bush #2 was a persona-non-grata at the
2008 convention he may have appeared in 2012 but certainly didn't have a role, McCain has said he will
support Trump but his stances on Immigration reform & Muslims along with his warmongering tendencies
are so foreign to Trumps positions that it makes sense for him to stay home & try to be re-elected.
Romney after his venomous anti-Trump remarks didn't bear fruit is in hiding somewhere.
These past standard bearers are so irrelevant that there anti-Trump diatribes won't influence one voter!

Pence is a great choice he gives Trump a greater chance to win! Trump/Pence 2016

Donald Trump's presidential bid has been a family affair and with the announcement of his running mate Mike Pence, the Indiana governor is bringing his own three children into the mix.
While Trump's kids have mostly followed in his footsteps with executive positions in their father's business, Pence's three children Michael, 24, Charlotte, 23, and Audrey, 21, have branched out into the military and media industries.
The Indiana politician's wife Karen Pence has been a teacher for more than 25 years, although she may give the Trump family a run for their money with her entrepreneurial spirit after she created her own business selling towel charms.

[h=3]THE PENCE FAMILY[/h]Pence and his wife Karen have stayed together for more than 31 years after they met in church.
Karen has been a teacher for more than 25 years, and has backed charities and initiatives related to education and art therapy.
Their 24-year-old son Michael was made a Marine Corps officer last year after he graduated from Purdue University.
Charlotte, 23, just graduated from DePaul University, where she double majored in English and Digital Cinema.
Audrey is known for being 'socially liberal',but her differing views have never been a source of tension with her dad.

[h=3]THE TRUMP FAMILY[/h]Trump had three children with his first wife Ivana Trump.
The eldest, Donald Trump Jr., 38 is a vice president of The Trump Organization.
Ivanka, 34, has been the most prominent supporter of her father's campaign.
Eric tends to be the most discreet, but he has called his father 'my idol and my boss.'
Tiffany, Trump's only child with second wife Marla Maples, is known for dating a registered Democrat who likes Hillary Clinton on Facebook.
Barron Trump, the Donald's 10-year-old son with current wife Melania, is said to prefer wearing suits over sweats.

Unlike Trump, who has been married three times, Pence and his wife Karen have stayed together for more than 31 years after they met in church.
Karen, who could become Second Lady, backs several charities in her home state while running a business called 'That's My Towel!' Charm, Inc.
The metal charms, ranging in design from a hot dog to a cowboy boot, are attached to a metal hoop, which clips on to the towels as a means of identification.
The website states: 'Most of us have matching bath and beach towels, so it is easy to get them confused.
'So to solve this, I came up with the idea of a towel charm. They are a fun, environmentally-friendly, and inexpensive way to eliminate unnecessary laundry, make a statement with your unique charm, and solve the problem of “Who took my towel?”'
Trump's wife Melania, who made a name for herself as a fashion model, is also a businesswoman in her own right with a skincare line as well as a watch and jewelry business.
Trump's three children Donald, Eric and Ivanka have followed in their father's footsteps with positions in the real estate conglomerate Trump Organization.
Pence's influence can also be seen in his children- public service has certainly rubbed off on his son, who joined the military, while his two daughters appear to be interested in media after the politician made a start as a radio talk show host.

Trump has relied heavily on the counsel of the three children he had with first wife Ivana throughout his presidential candidacy. They were notably behind campaign manager Corey Lewandowski's sacking

Just as Donald Trump Jr. carries his father's namesake, Pence's firstborn is named Michael Pence.
The Indiana governor's 24-year-old son was made a Marine Corps officer last year after he graduated from Purdue University and studied to become a pilot.
Charlotte, 23, just graduated from DePaul University, where she double majored in English and Digital Cinema.
She has already racked up an impressive resume with several film internships, along with a brief stint as a US Senate page in 2011.
The youngest Pence child Audrey, a budding journalist studying at Northeastern University, is known for being 'politically independent' and 'socially liberal'.
She said she voted split ticket shortly after she turned 18, but her differing views have never been a source of tension with her dad.

'Probably the person I get the most respect from is my dad on that and he has always...he tells me so many times, "I am proud of you for having your own opinions and looking into things'," Audrey told WTHR.
Despite their differences, Audrey said she voted for her father for governor.
Similarly, Tiffany Trump, the business tycoon's only child with second wife Marla Maples, is known for dating Ross Mechanic, a registered Democrat who likes Hillary Clinton on Facebook.
Just as Trump's children have stumped for their father, the Pence clan have publicly supported their father's political career.
Pence told WTHR: 'This has always been a family affair for us, from the very first campaign headed out to county fairs, while Karen and I would be shaking hands at the Republican tent, the kids would be standing out in front of the tent, handing out flyers and shaking hands.
