I love how everyone with a conscience outside of Norman says that OU is undeserving.

Every single reputable broadcaster, journalist, former player, and former coach ALL agree that OU does not deserve to be ranked above Texas. No matter who these individuals feel is the 'better' team, everyone outside of Norman understands the unwritten rule in sports and uses their conscience knowing that, as a man, head-to-head must be the ultimate deciding factor. Why can't OU fans do the same? What cowards.

45-35, bottom line.

And now all the blind, homer OU fans without a conscience must be shitting their pants knowing that UF has made the title game.

Yet another undeserving spot in a BCS game for the University of Oklahoma that they will most likely choke away, just as they've done so consistently in the recent past under the leadership of their terribly overrated coach.

Then again, what else is new in Norman, OK?

I'm not an Oklahoma fan but Florida showed and Oklahoma will tonight, that you can have a fluke game and a loss.

OU & Florida are a level above everyone else...

Don't give a shit personally about either OU or Texas and OU deserves it far more than Texas. It's so annoying how people bring up head to head but leave out tech beating texas. if you send texas to this game you can say the EXACT same thing for tech. they beat texas h2h so why do they deserve it more?

Oklahoma has a FAR better resume and deserves it. It really isn't complicated. Dominating wins vs TCU and Cincinnati surprisingly impress people more than a win vs Arkansas...not to mention OU killed everyone in conference while Texas barely beat Ok St AT HOME and lost to tech.

Why don't you tell us what you really think.

You're one of the only Sooner fans I respect, as you seem to have a pretty firm grasp on reality.

That being said, this is not what I just think, it's what EVERYONE thinks outside of Norman and I know you're one of the very few Sooner fans who realize this. Every single broadcaster on ESPN, ABC, Fox, etc. have clearly stated that Texas deserves the nod. Former players and coaches who've been interviewed agree as well. In fact, this debate doesn't even EXIST outside of Norman.

Your typical CFB enthusiast (like myself) who has no dog in the UT vs. OU rivalry just wants what's fair. The issue of which team appears to be 'better' (which OU certainly does) is irrelevant. If the situation had been the reverse with OU beating UT head-to-head, but now were having to watch UT in the Big 12 CCG, I'd support OU's cause in that case.

Very well said.

I guess Texas Tech doesn't count?? Head to head they beat Texas right?? Texas would not even be in the conversation had OU not beat Texas Tech. Enough said.

...except USC who would be favored by 7 vs OU on a neutral field, and -2/-3 vs UF.

The earlier that you lose in college football then the better off you are. It has always been this way. It is a 3 way tie and the reason TT isn't in the picture is because OU blew them out. Another comparison is the non-conference schedule. It came back to bite Texas. That is their own fault.
Date Opponent Time/Result
Aug 30 Fla. Atlantic Won 52-10
Sep 6 @UTEP Won 42-13
Sep 13 Arkansas
Sep 20 Rice Won 52-10
Sep 27 Arkansas Won 52-10

Hippie...This was a conference tiebreaker rule. Would you rather have seen the Big 12 conference break the rules they set down at the beginning of the year and send Texas? Bottom line is I think Texas deserves to be there more than OU. But the coaches including Mack Brown voted for this rule probably not thinking they would ever have to use it. So it really doesn't matter what the media or anybody outside of OU thinks. If they don't want it to happen again they need to change the rule. They also need to reveal the votes of every coach every week. Stoops even suggested they do it.

No, I wouldn't support that either. That would be breaking rules that everyone agreed to. Granted, this year was a perfect storm scenario in which those rules were unexpectedly put to the test, but an agreement must stand nonetheless. To be honest, at this point, I don't even know what could be done. I'm just so pissed off that yet another year is ruined for all the serious CFB fans.

Bottom line is I think Texas deserves to be there more than OU.

I know you don't have a problem admitting that, but why do so many other OU fans? I don't blame OU fans for the utter failure of the BCS system and the system's utter disregard for the game of CFB, but it doesn't help matters when OU fans sit around trying to rationalize against one of the most fundamental and basic tenants of competition... head-to-head results. That's what really bothers me. I mean, just be a man about it, Texas beat you and therefore deserves it before you do.

And not only did Texas beat Oklahoma head-to-head, but they also have BY FAR the best quality loss. Blake Gideon.

not worth reading all of the responses but no one with a shred of intelligence can say OU should be ahead of UT in anything.

this is not about texas tech either... it is about team number 2 (OK but should be UT) and team number 3 (UT but should be OK)... it is only about two teams and one of them lost to the other by double digits on a neutral field.

:ohno:

guarantee you usc would NOT be favored by either OU or UF

would you like to put your money on that? i will bet you anything up to $5000 that USC would be favored over Oklahoma. Florida isn't a sure thing, but I think they would be favored by maybe 2 or 3, possibly a pk. But I will bet you USC would be favored over OU and I would be surprised to see it under 4.5.

I'm sure we have mods here that are good friends with some people that help set lines. As long as we can both trust the mod's answer I will place that bet with you anytime you want.

haha, that is not a factor in this at all. how thick do you have to be?

they played each other straight up on a neutral field, period.

No, how thick headed are you? Only idiot Texas fans want to boast about 1 H2H win while ignoring the H2H loss considering all 3 teams finished tied. This isn't an opinion, open to debate, it is a FACT!

TT has as much room to cry if Texas is going to do so considering Texas was lucky to even have a chance to win that game. TT outplayed them for almost the entire game.

Texas fans are the biggest bitches especially considering their whole body of work in no way trumps Oklahoma. They beat the same teams in conference for the most part but have not one quality OOC win. Oklahoma can claim 2.

There is a 3-way tie. Do you not understand the situation?
