running for president at +1,000,000. I think we can make this happen. You'd be surprised how many people that run that you never hear about

Congrats on scoring such a nifty vacation! :toast:

Enjoy your 99 weeks of unemployment benefits, and I'm certain when week #99 arrives .... Congress will extend your benefits an additional 99 weeks! @)

being self-employed, unemployment not an option. Plus I think I would die trying to live on something like $ 450 per week

Huh? You said you were bored to death. Now that you are collecting unemployment checks for the next 99 weeks, you've changed your mind? Watch what happens when those stop and you try to find a job. Sometimes, you confuse me. :think2:

in Buffalo to boot!!

Don't Americans pay into the unemployment pool while they are employed? If so, isn't he entitled to collect something back now that he needs help?

In Canada we have a forced weekly deduction, which entitles you to collect unemployment money if you are put out on the street. If you quit, or are fired for cause (theft, absenteeism, etc) you are not entitled to collect. If you pay into it for all your working life, I don't see the shame in collecting back when something unfortunate happens. It is a far cry from welfare.

I believe employers pay for some type of insurance or something in the states

I recently started working from home 3-4 days out of the week. Being in inside sales it is a pretty easy transition. Saving money on gas, controlling my eating habits by cooking my own food and not having to deal with traffic and staying awake behind the wheel. I tried to keep it normal working at home as much as I can but I will admit things are a little different at home. First off when in the office I spend time fucking around on the internet or talking to other coworkers or taking a full hour lunch break away from the computer and phone. However at home I have been able to watch some of my DVR programs during work hours or get in a little video game time when shits slow. I think my effectiveness is the same at home or at the office just during my slow and down time I fill in the blanks doing other shit.

I don't think Harrington wil be able to get for 99 weeks. That extension are only for the people that have already been on unemployment for 6 months.

Good luck Harrington.

You are correct sir. My original info was dead wrong. I went right to the source this past week (Labor Dept.) and as of now I get 26 weeks.

Just saying. Couldn't care less if I ever work again.

Jesus.

Careful what you wish for...you may very well get it.

Your problem is two-fold...not only is it a real pain in the ass to find a job nowadays, but the longer you're out of work, the more difficult it is to readjust to a full-time working schedule. It's very easy to fall into the UE lifestyle...roll out of bed at 10 am, scratch your ass, have a snack, watch some porn, play online poker, maybe send out one or two resumes, settle down to watch your night bets...then do it all over again the next day. The time also flies by...one week turns into two weeks, then a month, then three months, then before you know it, a year has gone by. I was like that for six months, and it was a real bitch to get readjusted to working full time. I was exhausted the first week.

Are you at least networking with people you know for a new job? I wouldn't even bother to look on the monster or careerbuilder type sites nowadays...friend of mine works in HR and says they stopped posting jobs on monster altogether since they get over 1,000 responses to every posting and can't possibly read them all.

If you cut out the gambling maybe you could have continued indefinitely

That's where I plan to be fairly soon
