I thought it was pretty difficult to get seated at the same table? Isn't it somewhat random in order to stop this collusion?

Thats only in multi table tourneys, not SNG tourneys or ring games.

They probably know what they are up to, but they keep getting that rake, so why bother?

They get much less rake. If all of the table is of relatively equal skill, chips will just be passed around the table until the rake busts them all. If there are winning players there, money will tend to be passed to them and they will withdraw it leading to much less rake paid.

Oh, I dunno...to protect the integrity of their site? So that people would actually go and play there?

No kidding. If they are interested in maintaining a respectable business and being successful over the (semi) long-term, it would be vital to take steps to protect players. But my guess is that the type of people that run these offshore sites are just trying to make as much money as fast as possible....

Those of you who don't think the poker site owners/staff themselves aren't doing this also are really naive.

When you think about it, why should they care? They probably know what they are up to, but they keep getting that rake, so why bother?

They would have to hire additional tech people to control this problem.
They want people to feel comfortable playing.
