I thought I had something figured out and I didn't. I tried chasing with roulette on the online casno.

Bet $1. Lose, then double up. Continue until you win.

There were twelve numbers and a green spot. 54% of losing each time, correct? Multiply that by 9 rolls, and there's a .39% chance that you don't win. So by the 9th roll, I was giving 256:1 odds. I'm almost positive I've gone over that math correctly, but perhaps not.

And I got burnt. $250 down the drain. And for a 22yo, that's a shit-ton of money.

What do I do? Was I doing the math incorrectly? Or did I seriously just get beat giving 256:1 odds?

Fuck my life.

each roll is independent of the last. I am not a math guy, but what you did is a martingale which has been tried and failed at for centuries vs. a roulette wheel.

roulette is a very old game, they played it in Europe long ago and it still survives in casinos, what does that tell you? It means the house wins and they do not sweat any system players. You cannot beat it with a money management system. Sorry for your loss, but do not try to beat roulette again.

I don't have any money to try and beat it again. My roomate says he's going to try and win me my lost money back tomorrow, but I have a bad feeling he's going to lose everything too. The crappy thing is we were both up about $75 before shit hit the fan.

Should have just quit at +$20 and called it a night.

And while I understand each roll is independent, isn't there some sort of probability involved as to whether or not the same color continues to come up?

I feel sick.

if u had an infinite bankroll, and the casino didnt have limits your theory would hold weight....but since neither is true time to give up.

yes your chances of losing that many rolls in a row were small, but it happens, each roll you had a betting disadvantage at and when you increased your bet on each independent roll of the last you just increased your loss exposure to a bad run, which hit.

this is the martingale at its worst. google martingale. its an old system at an old game which makes the casino money.

DO NOT try and get your money back.

you are playing a losing system at a losing game. If you keep at it your expectation is further losses. I am a FSU grad, please listen. DO NOT play any more on-line casino games.

What is done is done, move on.

disable casino access with all your accounts.. DO THIS NOW!!!

I've done this with ALL my accounts. You'll be very thankful.

I have been in Vegas and hit 24 black in a row once. I've seen the signs all one color on more than one occasion. Martingale does not work.

Don't worry, I won't be trying it again.

And to think, I started gambling over a year ago so I could put $10 on a few college football games every saturday that I felt good about. Now I've got 5 different online accounts (this one had my most amount of money...the others are all between $50 and $100), and I'm playing online roulette with a stupid-ass chase system at 2:30am.

Gambling sucks.

(ps: last of my accounts going on FSU, UF, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Purdue this Saturday. Fade away.)

IF Losing $250

makes you "sick", you have no business gambling. It (gambling) should NEVER be that important. Play ONLY when a los won't affect you this way. i.e. when you grow up. Not trying to be mean, just advice from a guy old enough to be your GDad and who's been there & done that.

in live casinos, the players who play roulette for big money, get huge comps, that should tell you something. now add in that you are playing against a computer program, that should tell you more. stay away

No. Think about it like this.

If you took a deck of cards, shuffled them and placed them face down on a table. Then you turn one over and hope for the Ace of Spades. You have a 1 in 52 chance that you will pull that card. If you don't, then take all 52 and do it again. You still have a 1 in 52 chance even though you tried it once before.

I agree with the other posters, I wouldn't try to chase that money. GL

from another Seminole Grad...stop it!! I did the same thing about your age. Sports ended up not being enjoyable since the only thing I cared about was "did they cover the line". I scaled WAY back a few years ago and feel a hundred times better. Online poker and casinos are a killer. If you have an extra hundred go ahead and play but make yourself a limit. You should really try going the next 30 days without making a single bet. See if you can do it. Play some free fantasy leagues or something like that. You will think you are missing the action when in all reality the only thing you will be missing is a growing addiction..There is nothing worse than being in debt. And the worst debt is the debt that you have nothing to show for it.

Peace out fellow Nole. Stay smart!!

And from another seminole (almost grad) knock that shit off!! online casinos are rigged to steal!

and if 250 is your life savings, GROW UP and knock that shit off even more, you never gamble with what will hurt you, Only with monies that are extraneous,

if you go to vegas I will give you 2 systems that win, you must play them on single zero wheels though,

stick to sports, and betting 5.00 - 10.00 a bet Keep it healthy,

as a few have said i think the online casino is rigged

i play every once in a blue moon to kill some time and for chump change buck or two here and there

i always get fkd in blackjack

but i will say i have played for bigger dollars in a live deal and have always had good success, winning anywhere from 50-300 bucks in 30-45 minute frame, and its fun to chat with other players as sometimes if you play smart together you have a good shot at busting a dealer on bad hands

the key i think is knowing when to stop on profit and being patient thru your play

never play online casino unless u r just having some small fun for shit and giggles, you will never win big money on that fixed crap
