Greetings ladies and gents. Its been several months since I last visited the ole RX. I quit gambling about 6 months or so ago, but was a very active member for a few years. Figured I would stop in and say hey to some of my pals and see how everyone is. I remember about 11 months ago I posted a thread stating I had 30 days clean and sober but was still actively gambling....I went back and re-read the thread and found it somewhat amusing, both by some of my posts and some of the thread participants.

My life has changed in the past year and I am proud to announce that I am starting back to school Sept 2nd after a 15 year layoff. I am getting into the radiology field after about 15 years of resteurant business. Getting sober from booze and clean from cocaine has been the hardest thing I have ever done and remains a one day at a time reprieve. i thought things in life would change a great deal, and to some degree they have, but life is what it is. The important thing is I have changed somewhat and at least I dont have drug and drunk problems.

Anyway, I am still chipping away and trying to grow as a spiritual person. Doing the next right thing has never really been a problem, but stringing a bunch of "the next right things" has been my weekness. I am happy to say I am a honest productive member of society these days. This site has always been good to me and is a part of my story so I figured I would revisit and let my friends here know I am doing well. As of Monday, August 18th I have been clean and sober for one year.

God Bless,
Mark

Religion has nothing to do with it. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

Nice going Maxxx. I miss your hockey picks and I miss bullshitting with you. I would hope that you consider coming back to theRX.

Oh yeah, I can't forget those bunnies.

One vice feeds the other. Maybe needing a drink to calm the nerves of watching the game.

Or doing blow to stay up and watch the late game.

Most of the time its got to be all or nothing.

Good for you. Glad to hear all the best to you.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it...

Johnny, good to see you, hope all is well. I quit gambling for personal reasons, mostly due to feeling as though I was substituting one addiction for another. Hope to stop by the hockey forum this year from time to time. Be well.

Agreed, religion plays zero percent in staying clean and sober. But at least for me, spirituality is a very very big part. Thanks for the nice words.

Ahhhh, one of my favorite bunny fuckers. How is it going pal, still taking those pictures I hope!! I saw you are going to Vegas in late Oct or there abouts. Wish I could join you but perhaps another time, maybe over school break in Dec or Jan!! Stay well my friend.
