I mean, for 500/1 as you say, why not? But Calgary is not a good team. They're a young team but not yet a good one. One of the worst in the league, analytically speaking (Leaf-like), but are riding an unsustainable PDO to some big wins. Doesn't mean it won't continue for a while, and I hope it does, but I just have a hunch that a career .917 goalie is not going to be able maintain anything close to a .938 at the tender age of 32...

That Det/StL SCF bet is intriguing though!

With all due respect Fedds, I have to completely disagree with you. They're a damn good team. They have perhaps the best puck moving group of d-men in the league that are not only solid and talented but smart too. Up the middle, they are deep and strong and while analytics doesn't love them yet, their Fenwick and Corsi numbers are improving rapidly. If Hiller doesn't keep it up, Ramo could easily pick it up. Comparing the Flames to the Leafs is like comparing Jennifer Lopez to Rosie O'Donnell. Calgary is 5 years ahead of the Leafs. Great bet at 500-1 and I'm picking some of that up too. It's not a "throwaway" bet

We are always looking for value in the line whether it’s on a individual game, prop, or future.

Needless to say when I bet on long shot futures I’m always doing so with hedging in mind. At 500/1 just make the playoffs and you can turn a profit. You’ve got 8 teams making the playoffs out of 14 in the west. They have to be better than six teams. Can they finish with more points than Edmonton, Arizona, Colorado, and Winnipeg? I say absolutely. Are teams like Dallas, Vancouver, and San Jose locks to end up with more points than the Flames? Can they be better than 2 of those 3? What happens if the impossible happens and one of the remaining six teams not mentioned above fail to make the post season? Lots of questions with nearly 1/5th of the season already over.

All I know is, at this point in time, I've got a team with the the second most points in the conference at 500/1. I’ll roll the dice for $12.

The Dallas Stars made the post season last year with 91 points. Western Conference teams are currently on the same pace as last year. Calgary has 32 points today. They need 59 points in the final 57 games to match 91. Very doable
