A few posters know this, but I am now splitting time between my home in Portland and southern Mexico. I am based in Chetumul and Majahual. Been planning this for awhile now. Setting up a telecommunications business here with partner who has alot of connections down in this area. Internet & cell service to tourists and locals. Been a real headache getting equipment down here with all of the drug cartel violence. Worked it out though. Going to check out Belize next week. Anyone know if their is a sports book their ? Good chance I will get back into Pinny too. Anyone passing thru let me know and I'll let you know where you can find me.
Most of it involves the cartels and Police in the major border towns. Unfortunatly you don't know who the crooked cops are from the good ones. I'm alot farther south , not much of a concern. I'm walking the streets with no issues even at dark. People I have met thru partners connections don't feel threatened in anyway. I'll also stay away from the tequila at strip joints so I dont intice a riot. lol I'll bump the thread periodically with any useful information.

Belize City is disgusting and I am being nice. Stay far, far away from this city! Can't speak for the rest of the country. I still can not believe cruise ships stop at this port. Truly sad but tought our kids a little humilty and to be thankful for what we have. Good luck on your travels.
:toast: LTJust a short update from my new location. I am now spending most of my time here in Mahuhual. This place is beautiful, kinda old Mexico before tourists took over. Still in its natural state. Very simple life here, 12-15 room hotels, thatched roofs, vendors on old bikes selling stuff. Hard to explain unless you see it yourself.This is where the Great barrier reef ends. Cruise ships are now coming back since town has rebuilt to a sufficent level to sustain visitation. Alot of great opportunities here with the right project and funds to support it.
As far as my interests here, well besides the half naked women running around here, I now have a Telecomunications network here and this is my first post from it. Pretty excited , but alot of tweaking here and their to get things right and still plenty of work ahead. Alot of questions being asked around town on what we are doing. I try not to be to vague, but trying to stay ahead of possible and inevitable competition. Finally took a half day off today to enjoy this paradise. We needed to refresh our minds here
