Dang... Here's a thread about a guy (who I know played a lot on WPN) who multi-tabled 45 at a time!
Apparently they've lowered the cap to 40. I don't know how this is doable, as I start having hand timeout issues
when playing more than 12 at a time.

I'm able to take notes in the poker client for each player. You can tell pretty quickly that some people have no
clue about bet sizing, and when to get their stack in the pot. Sometimes I have to bring up the note window
for a certain player, and remember in my head what I want to write, and then wait for a lull in the action to
write the note in.

To Justin's point, you need to know player tendencies. A general idea of who is opening loose and who is opening too tight is extremely helpful, but it goes way beyond that. You need to know at a glance if someone is stealing or re-stealing too often (especially short-handed). If someone is 3 betting light, or if they fold to c-bet too much, or they c-bet too often, or they double-barrel a lot...all extremely exploitable and all you have to do is glance at a number to know (provided you have sufficient hand history).
I would go a step further than saying it's helpful and say that if you are playing online without a HUD, you are putting yourself at a major disadvantage due to the amount of players using them against you. Especially if you're multi-tabling.
Another point on the HUD, beyond just knowing other players' tendencies and spotting their leaks, is the ability to analyze your own leaks and fix them. Or, at a minimum, the ability to know your own table image and exploit others' attempts at exploiting you.
Like, if you know that you have 3 bet 20% over 300 hands in this session (super high), expect that all other players using a HUD know this, and you will be getting 4 bet a lot, often by light holdings. Meaning you can 5 bet light and take down some monster pots preflop. Also you would want to make sure to raise your premiums aggressively because you will be getting looked up and/or 4 bet so often. Just one example.
