I realize "the Man" can set his line on any number he likes and often they try to get "play" on the other side but he does this with
consensus lines including the big games (championship play) when they first come out. Anyone care to comment on what his "strategy might be.

BC everyone bets heavy chalk and are square so why not add it on. He knows when the patriots play for example everyone is gonna get on them no matter what the line is. Common knowledge. I have a book who's the same way but if he likes a dog himself he'll leave it to bait the players

I think most (serious) books have a place to lay-off their "excess" .......Otherwise they are gambling just like his players....Not the way it's supposed to work.

It's not just locals who do it. Bodog now called bovada adds a point on the favorite all the time because they know their players will bet the fav no matter what the line is. They are a great place for dog players, otherwise stay away. Sportsbook.ag also adds a half point to the fav a lot. These guys know where the money is going most of the time.

Bovado tracks their customers and dishes different line accordingly, at least they used to. I am more of a dog player but I have a bud who bets mostly chalk. We would sit together and play using different IP addresses and lines would vary .5 to sometimes a point. It can be smart business but it is gambling too.

Anyway Mack, I would look for some good dogs on lower lines and then get an offshore account and perhaps try and middle. For example, your local deals Oregon -5 tonight so you play Duke with him and then hit Oregon -3 offshore. Good luck no matter what you play.

Thanks for the info Mosi.....This "old dog" has been "dabbling" around with sport betting for close to 60 years (never lost the farm) but with Internet gambling now days one is never too old to learn....I follow certain guys who seem to know their way around the "block" here on the Rx......Best of luck to you.

Bovada definitely runs two sets of lines. I play dogs alot and seem to be getting the set that isnt moved up as much. My friend and I crushed a local on 49er games back when they were good he was adding multiple points cuz his action was so lopsided.

Seriously, he will get killed if he has even semi-sharp players play. If you are a chalk guy and you see these lines, run as a teaser, or just ML parlay.
I personally like a good ML dog myself. You hit a couple of dogs on your bookie and he will be reeling.
