I have a dream that one day.....

I will watch a major league baseball game in every ballpark, and I will accomplish this.. one day... My dream is to see Wrigley Field (next summer for sure). I am wondering if anyone here has ever seen a live game at Ebbets Field, and so on. Maybe we can hear some good stories of what stadiums are the greatest to visit..

Now my question is this.. and NO LYING folks..

which MLB ballparks have you been to and watched a live MLB game. I am curious to see which poster has seen the most stadiums.

I have to admit though, both Glaken and Winky have something in common.. They both saw Wrigley Field and I haven't.. And they both have not seen Yankee Stadium, and I have.. So I'll tell you what boys.. i will trade you my Yankee experience for your Wrigley field experience... anyday.. I am just fantasizing about the day I am at Wrigley watching a game on a Wednesday afternoon and singing along with the fans during the 7th inning stretch, with a cold beer in my hand.

I probably won't win this award, but I do have a comment to make being someone that has seen quite a few. While there is history and its something you want to do once, the old parks generally suck to be a casual fan. As much as it's almost asking for trouble, I will say yeah I would rather go to Pac Bell Park than Fenway Park on a regular basis. In other words if my home team was the Red Sox or Cubs, I wouldn't be happy about all the crap you put up with in those parks. Do it once, say you did it, then go back to comfort is my rule. That being said my roster in somewhat geographic order:

Kingdome (horrible, just horrible)

Safeco (thats more like it)

Candlestick (not as bad as some make it out to be)

Pac Bell Park (a huge upgrade nonetheless)

Oakland Coliseum (easy to get to and get seats)

Dodger Stadium (still great after all these years)

Anaheim Stadium (average)

Qualcomm (crappy for baseball, but SD is so nice who cares?)

Bank One (huge, like watching a game in an airplane hangar, saw one game there and it was the World Series so hard to judge just the stadium)

Coors Field (nice atmosphere, great neighborhood outside as well)

Astrodome (yuck)

Metrodome (fun place to be with a crowd)

Wrigley Field (history and nice for a day game, but not too comfortable)

Old Comiskey Park (yucky, but you feel close to the action)

Tiger Stadium (a flat out dump and terrible arrangement for fans, but it was a one-time thing)

Memorial Stadium Clev (oh God, why did I go there?)

Fenway Park (I paid $20(in 1990) for a horrible wooden seat that was too small in a mediocre location, had a post that blocked the view of every pitch, and a ton of obnoxious people. Oh well once in a lifetime as well)

Olympic Stadium (like watching a game played in a train station, huge and empty and you literally never see the sun)

Skydome (watched the game from the Hard Rock, stadium is average for views but lots of amenities)

Camden Yards (I can imagine when it was special, but now its just like 10 other stadiums)

Pro Player (watched the Dolphins actually, probably was better since there were people there, had good views for football but don't know about baseball)

My big hole obviously is New York. Have been by Yankee Stadium, but never inside. Hoping to at least go on the tour in November and make a game in the next year or two. Saw Shea from a plane, not exactly inspiring I suppose. Saw the Vet in Philly plus the building of the new stadium a few months back. Otherwise I think I have done a fair tour...

Busch Stadium- Best to park at Casino Queen, take shuttle. what a great place to take in a ball game- my body tingled through both games.

The Ballpark Arlington- really nice park with some great premium seats at reasonable prices.

Kauffman Stadium- great view from I-70 if you ever drive through KC.

Holy Cow!!!! talk about a list..

It's going to be tough to beat that one. But the incredible thing is.. not one poster has yet seen Yankee Stadium, but me. How is that possible?? This is the big shocker.. Wildbill has seen Olympic Stadium, but not yankee stadium.. Go figure..

BTW, i forgot to mention that I also drove by Camden Yards on my way to Washington D.C. by car, while driving on the highway. It was right on our right.. Great looking stadium.. And I just remembered another one that I drove by..and never went it, and that is... Tiger Stadium in Detroit.. and that one was not a great looking stadium at all...

And my most memorable stadium was Fenway, by far, not yankee stadium. I remember sitting 15 rows over 3rd base, and being so close to the field, and how the fans were all drunk and just having fun.. But the best part was when i walked in the bathroom and saw 18 grown men with their dicks showing, in one big circle all pissing in a big bathtub. Everyone could see everyone's dick. It was so funny. I had NEVER seen anything like it..

Sick I have driven by almost all of them, ones I have not seen by car, by city; Montreal, Boston, Minn/St. Paul, Toronto and Pac Bell.

I'll tell you Sick,

This is what happenned. My plane was delayed so I took a stand-by for about 8:30ish. I had only been to Chicago once when I was twelve; this is when I drove by Ebett's and the Rolling Stones were playing there. The traffic was horrible and my dad was screaming but it was still cool as hell.

Anyway back to Wrigley. I decided to go downtown and see the city as an adult(semi). I got a cab from the airport and he suggested an Irish bar next to the train station on the river. So I'm sitting there and these two guys come up and are pissed because they can't go to the home season opener at Wrigley. They think their tickets are history but the bartender offered to try and sell them. Having a chance at history I offered $20 over face value for just one. They ended up giving them to me since one of them also went to FSU.

Dude, I gave one away to the bartender to sell and a $30 cab ride later I was there. (I know! the El for $1.50 but I was a tourist)

Once you get through the turnstyles you can feel the history in all your senses. It was incredible, Walter Payton couldn't even throw the ball to home plate. It was a moment I will never forget as long as I live.

) Weather is great.. girls are gorgeous...clean, safe, and lots to do...

Bingo!!! And that is the exact reason why I want to be there so badly. Baseball has always been my life, and to be in there for 1 day at Wrigley, I will feel chills down my spine, because I will think of all the history that has happened in there, and I will be in another world.. The ancient things in there and to think of what has gone on in there in the last 100 or so years is pretty freaky.. The old seats, the old walls.. and growing up with my dad and watching every game on WGN and harry caray is probably the main reason why i want to be there soon.. (next summer 100%) Seeing all this on tv will only bring back fond memories of my dad, who is no longer with me.. My whole childhood days was spent watching cubs at wrigley with my dad, and now, i get to be there one day. It will be a great day indeed..

Sick, I am a surfer, I have driven cross-country 8 times! Played ball in college, then semi-pro and I love to travel, I am going to come to Montreal someday to play ping-pong with you and check out the city!

Went to europe for 8 weeks once and stayed in nothing but hostels and ate nothing but bread and cheese, played guitar in the train stations to make enough money to eat. I guess I sucked at the guitar, I lost 20 lbs., went from 170 to 150. Love to travel!

I went first weekend in April once (made it to Canadiens and Expos!), was even snowing outside and I STILL loved it. Maybe the women were covered, but damn they still were hot without showing much. Just walking around a mall in the middle of the day will get your blood going, walking on the Main at night will get everything else going

I have to say its the undiscovered gem of North America, hardly anyone I know has been there or wants to go there. I think the French thing chases them off. Oh well, if the masses start showing up it will no longer be the huge bargain it is...
