Same thing happened to me once also - I jumped over the coffee table filled with nachos and cheese and doughnuts on the way to the fridge to get another 'tall boy' Schlitz and barely made it back to my couch! After that I cut back on such strenuous workouts!

Could be all those peanut butter eggs from easter ,clogging me up :nohead:

What's that big hill overlooking the harbor over by Fort McHenry? That would be cool to sled or roll down. Hope you're okay JMan! Those cream eggs are my favorite! After Easter, I buy all I can at 50% off!

Journeyman. I truly believe that until you get checked out and get a clean bill of health....you are going to be miserable for awhile. You seem scared about what happened....and rightfully so...it is your one and only body that you get. You are bartering with your body now, however. You are going to start making every health change in the book and start second guessing everything that you do. Taking aspirin may be a decent idea...and it might be absolutely irrelevant to this situation. The one good thing is that you will probably now concentrate harder on eating right, drinking more fluids, being healthier (which is good)...etc....but the bad part is that you will be scared that it is going to happen again and your changes may not stop it from happening again. If you get checked out and something shows up medically....then they will tell you what to do about it. If it is a panic attack (which is extremely possible)....then you need to learn more about them so that you can get on living more comfortably.

I truly wish you the best. If you have questions.......ask them.

its a blood sugar drop

It is a blood sugar drop....which is one of the #1 triggers of panic attacks. However...most people will deal with a dip in blood sugar....by EATING SUGAR....which is the WRONG thing to do. This will only temporarily raise blood-sugar levels....causing them to crash after that short sustained period. That is tough on the body.

You need to go for a full blood and physcial workup every 2-3 years at the Min. anyway Jman..go get a full lab work up just in case if you have not gotten a physcial in the last 2 yrs

do not put off going to the Dr for checkups

interesting comments here.

I have always been very healthy Don Dollars...I'm going toimconcentrate on the stress factor, and see if it happens again....like I said earlier, stress is hard to measure since it's not something you see....I could seriously see how it could have been a stress build-up , I have had a stressful week, a few family matters.

thanks for the replies guys.

Dante I had a full blood word done bout 3-4 years ago, all clear there.

How much would that run without insurance? I would like to get a cholesterol check, never had that checked.

Jman not sure on the cost

...You probably as I said just went out and OVERDID it either not eating enough BEFORE your ride or going out after eating to quick....it sounds like a blood sugar drop which can happen

1.) If you are concerned then talk to your doctor...heart issues are worth talking to your doctor about. Your foot hurts, that's one thing. Your heart starts acting funny and that's another.

2.) I am going to guess that you had an electrolyte imbalance that caused your racing heart...just my guess. You mentioned being dehydrated and that can lead to an electrolyte imbalance. That can lead to heart arrythmia and such. Some coffee can be beneficial. I wouldn't necessarily quit all caffeine unless your doctor suggests you should. Finally, remember that drinking lots of water is good for you each day (within established guidelines) BUT an electrolyte imbalance won't be aided by water and you need to include sports drinks that contain the proper essential salts/electrolytes.

Get checked out and come back and tell us what the doctor said to do! tulsa

I went back the other day for my blood pressure reading and again it was some where around 150/90 and he put me on medication. Not something to f-with. Trying to get this under control, shit is scary. I would go to a doctor and describe what happened to him, not something to mess with. good luck

JMan: Maybe it was because today is opening day at Pimlico and you were worried you might not make it to Pimlico AND that stupid 3:05 start time for the Orioles! BTW, 1 minute until 1st post! I'm on the 6 horse! The favorite, the 4, wins for fun - by about 8 lengths! Ugh!

I had or at least I thought I was having problems with my heart at one time also...It is a very scary thing. Mine wasn't activty related though, so this probably won't help....I would be at work, and my heart would beat so fast I thought it was going to beat out of my chest, beating really fast, fast enough to make me a little light headed.....I assumed it was an anxity attack....It kept happening....I went to the Dr after a couple of days, and he told me that it was caused by stress and too much caffine, because I drink an exess of coffee in the mornings......He told me to reduce my stress level, (which can't happen) I have decreased my coffee intake, though....He told me to just try and ignore it....and it would go away...(That is a little easier said than done) and it would go away.....It did go away for the most part, but it still does happen from time to time, but not like that time which lasted almost a week. I do suggest if it continues to happen to get it checked out, its better to be safe than sorry.

Sounds to me like you had a drop in blood pressure. I'd certainly want to know what my normal blood pressure is. Its not called the silent killer without reason.

..... the one thing I did notice yesterday was after I left I was thirsty as hell, so maybe that was part of it.

The fact you were thirsty before you even left is very bad, thirst is how the body tells you that it is dehydrated. To go for a 50 MINUTE bike ride after that is not good for you. Even if it turns out that it wasn't related in this case you need to watch that. If you exercise a lot you have to keep plenty of fluids in you, especially the summer seasons. I'm doing a lot of swimming and biking and they are kind of weird because sometimes you don't realize how many body fluids you are losing. The wind and/or water seem to make you think you are cooler than you are. Anyway good luck, we're all getting older and need to get smarter about our health.
