I gotta admit the current NBA offer is awful.

Owners are losing money and they are in this for the long haul. Some teams will lose less money with the lockout then if the season were to happen under the old cba. I think there won't be a season this year and the owners don't care, they figure the players will cave in sooner or later. Can the players go a whole year without a paycheck? I doubt it as most probably didn't save their money knowing the lockout could wipe out the whole season.

th players went from 57 to 52. i think the owners shouldve accepted that.

i dont know about these other things we dont hear about, like this D league rule, and this amnesty clause though.

i agree though that you gotta take what you gotta take. let the business boom, and then win back what you lost in the next session.

We've been in a recession, the economy is in a toilet, and these idiots are complaining that they're only making $10 million instead of $20 million.
Ironic that your argument against black millionare athletes is the same argument as the left's against wall street and corporations that use every trick in the book to avoid paying taxes.

JMO, but I bet the players will look back after they finally settle a deal down the road and wish they took the offer they rejected yesterday. He who has the ball makes the rules.

Well, many people are in financial hardships due to their own stupidity. Too many low wage earners live beyond their means. As for the players, I have no complaints, they have a unique talent. Anyone with unique talents makes an immense amount of money. Why don't people complain when Adam Sandler or Nick Cage stole $20M a movie.

Still love when Barry bonds said 'it's not my fault you're not a baseball player' (or something like that).

Sure a lot f guys in the league are clowns, but doesn't mean they lose their rights to a fair deal just because they make a lot of money.

Huge difference ! I've never heard of Adam Sandler or Nick Cage crying. I can go see their Movies for $ 3.00 almost anytime I want. What's the cost to see a NBA game ? I think I know why... Do you ?:ohno:

Cable is included in my rent, so the additional cost to me to watch the games is zero

I'm one of the biggest NBA fans out there, but these dumb-ass players can go F themselves. Now that they don't have a job, maybe they can
join the occutard movement, live in a tent, and shit on the side-walk.

If they've already been earning $10 million per year why should they ever care to work another day in their life? They could be demanding raises and if the owners refuse they can live pretty damn well shitting in gold plated toilets

The party is over on Wall Street too. Thousands have lost their jobs and the bonus pool has been scaled down by as much as 45 percent. Warren Buffet is losing money, bond traders like Pimco are having terrible runs, and hedge funds are closing and going bankrupt.

Things will rebound eventually, but we're going through major economic turmoil, and NBA players are not immune.

The NBA players are acting the same way as the Wall Street boys were a couple of years ago when they were whiny about cuts to their multimillion-dollar bonuses. Now a lot of them don't have jobs.

...but doesn't mean they lose their rights to a fair deal just because they make a lot of money.

you have the "right" to speak freely... you don't have a "right" to force someone to employ you

anyway this isn't about the players this is about the teams

allowing teams to demote players only helps the small market teams.

How can a small market team compete with the big boys when big money teams can offer up contracts that guarantee money no matter if the players plays or not?

The players are protected by their agents... those agents will get the very best deal for their player. All these things the owners are asking for are to protect the TEAMS and make it fair for all the OWNERS to be on the same playing field.

do the players want the NBA to cut the number of TEAMS in half, thus cutting the number of NBA players in 1/2 and only keep the big money teams and let them (players and teams) negotiate contracts anyway they see fit?

I blame David Stern and the owners for this. Ever since the economy tanked three years ago, Stern has had his eye on using it as an excuse to roll back pay and benefits and gain more control over the players. He suckered them into thinking that the league was serious about negotiating and convinced the players not to de-certify as soon as the lockout began (which they should have done) figuring that as soon as they started missing paychecks they would cave like they did in '98-'99; it didn't happen and now, thanks to the agents whom clearly care more about the players' interests than owners do, the players have wised up and realized that de-certification is the way to go and that the league is ultimately going to lose.

the real issue is how the NBA basketball wives are going to react when there isn't a paycheck in the mailbox. they may have to scale back

Yep, the owners r the ones that r hurt by the recession while these undesirables (to put it politely) demand 5-10 mil salaries - I would love to see the NBA just dissolve - a lesson would be taught as they returned to the ghettos they came from
