I got a friend who suggests I startup a Sportsbook.

Search
What does it take to do so? Let's use Costa Rica. What kind of capitol is involved to be safe with a good book and where does a person start with this type of venture. I don't think I will be doing so soon, but i am curious as to the route to take.

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks

Coming up with the capital is easier than coming up with a soild customer base. That being said you cpuld probably start up with 200k.You would just have to book small and layoff until your bankroll grew.

Go for it General. But if you have kids dont do it. Taking them down there to live is a form of child abuse in my opinion.

First you get potential customers. Then move down here.Get a small office with a couple of phone lines .A computer with Don Best. And start writing bets.Oh you need a toll free # from the states.Start small and as your bank increases, increase your hold.

Intersting Judge. I didnt even think of the customer base first. So a local book with clients already has a good start. I guess one would try and persuade them to wager with you over the net?

Yes.That's where alot of new places run into trouble. They have no customer base. They then go ahead and write all the wise guys or give unreasonable bonuses and end up broke.I just came down with my old clients and have built up through word of mouth. If you pay quick and treat people right, people will find you.

A business model, something that sets you apart from the others.

Professional line movers and clerks.

Software at a cost effective price.

Much, much more!

That is also a way to go.But you better get a big customer base to cover that overhead.

The overhead is directly corresponding to the business, at least the labor side!

I would 86 phone wagers altogether and set limits within your appropriate budget.

Thats definately the way to go with high capital. However it is also possible to start a book with small capital.I've seen alot of people do it alot of different ways.
