Here is the problem.
A lot of people who go to church do not even know the message of Jesus.
Jesus does not teach legislating morality. Jesus is VERY big on giving every person the freedom to make there own choice, and not have that choice forced on them in the form of law.
If that were the case, there would not be heaven and hell. Jesus would have just made everyone incapable of making wrong decisions and everyone would go to heaven.
Thats not the case is it?
I am not the perfect christian. I do things sometimes that fellow church members would frown on, but for the most part I try to do things according to the golden rule. Treat people right, the 10 commandments etc...
But if I was a politician, I would never even think to use my place in power to force my beliefs on another human, and this is a big problem in the church community.
It is a shame to see these religious leaders talk down to society about the dangers of playing poker online simply because they dont do those things in there own free time.
Do I think gambling on sports and poker is a sin? Yes I do.
Do I think there should be a law against it? No I dont
This is where the church is missing it. They have no business legislating there beliefs on people in the form of law.
If they really want to change people, they need to focus on changing people from the inside out, and not the outside in.
Just because you may succeed in stopping a few people from playing poker does not accomplish anything.
The Bible says if you think it in your heart, its the equivalent of doing it.
I wish these church leaders would quit throwing stones at everyone and mind there own business.
