blatant flops need to be penalized. Even if it's after the fact. The shit is getting old real quick.

the flops are bad but what's worse to me is the expressions on the players faces when you see the slo mo replay. Great actors.

as i posted on facebook three minutes into the game:

This match has a chance to break every world record for a player getting tripped, acting like they got shot in the leg, and up and running at full speed less than 30 seconds later

it's like they've all been shot in the back or something

the slightest damn contact and the dude is laying on the ground for several minutes grimacing

The flops don't really bother me, but its the grimacing in pain for three minutes that kills me.

I'm no soccer fan by any means but i will admit I'm addicted to the world cup this year very entertaining. As far as the diving goes hasn't that been part of the game for 15 years now? that is why i cannot stand it the bump nipples going for a header and you think the guy was hit with a sniper shot from somewhere in the crowd its unreal. However i like this brazil vs mexico game the refs are letting them play

Funny thing are obvious flops like the one by Marcelo late in the game...if he keeps going instead of flopping, he has a great scoring chance because he would be 1on1 vs the goalie (although from a bad angle), with a teammate waiting in the centre (+open passing lane).

I don't know shit about soccer, but could they be doing that stuff just to get a break?

Team USA is the least flopping team I've seen so far. We're probably not winning many games this year but at least we'll go down without all that BS.

I seem to remember last World Cup that the guy on the Netherlands was actually criticized by some people in the Title Game for not flopping in a tie game as most thought he would have gotten the call, but obviously he gained a lot of respect from others for not flopping in that situation especially with a Title on the line.

Yeah it's more honorable than smart. Spurs and Heat are two of the highest flopping teams in the NBA and they are both excellent at it. I don't like the flopping at all but I can't blame guys for trying if the refs let it work in their favor.

Robben still is flopping a lot, actually he even went down in one of the two scenes in question during the final. He just thought he had a scoring opportunity (similar to the Swiss guy at the end of the Ecuador game thinking he might get a great opportunity), just when Robben realized, he wasn't going to score or get to the ball, he went down:

At 1:44, him going down would almost certainly resulted in Puyol being send off and Holland getting a free kick about 5-10yards in front of the penalty box. Instead he played on (rightfully so) and once he realized he wasn't going to score thanks to Casillas, he tried to flop and get a penalty call.

The soccer mentality has now infected the NBA with flopping. It is absolutely horrible.
