How does Ohio St lose to unranked Penn St, and only drop to #6 in the polls. But Utah can't get above #15. A&M loses at Bama pretty convincingly and still remains in the top 10. But teams like Baylor and Nebraska are in the top 10, despite not beating anyone. I think WVa should be higher. They held Tx Tech to 17 in Lubbock. Nobody does that. They held TCU to 10. The look like the best team in the Big12. And why does Wisconsin drop in the polls despite winning at Iowa. And how is Florida ahead of Utah. Who has UF beat this year that would allow them to be ranked? Oh well, maybe the CFB Playoff committee ranking next week will get it right.

Nebraska and Baylor both could be Paper Tigers. We'll find out more about them this weekend. WV probably deserves to be higher just based on being able to take care of some decent competition. Are they the best team in the Big 12? Right now they are. :)

OSU should have fallen out of the top 10 for losing to Sandusky State. But they are definitely a top 10 team....and they would have easily gotten back in the top 10 had they won out. The Michigan game will be fun.

Amen Desert: Polls are for ginning-up TV ratings (# 3 vs # 8....Wow !!!! a must-see game). The parity in college football today is deep-rooted; There is so much more talent available today compared to 50 or 60 years ago (They all can't play at the flagship programs of the past)......

The other factor is the advent of he 13 & 14 game schedules (more now that the conference & championship playoffs are with us. An undefeated season is damn near impossible to achieve. Polls.....Entertainment purposes only.

This is really the thought process of some people? If they are a top 10 team, why should they fall out of the top 10?!?!?! That was part of the problem in the not too distant past. Teams would drop big for losing to teams people thought they should beat and then they had 0 chance to make it back into the hunt, unless you were an SEC team and they were all over ranked so a loss didn't drop them too far. Another thing this year is no teams are really seperating themselves besides Bama. As someone already alluded to, these rankings mean jack squat except to hype up games. Luckily too, because they are worthless when it comes gauging teams as someone else said, there is a lot more talent and teams are more even than back in the day. Don't worry about these polls so much and you will save yourself a lot of energy. You shouldn't even worry about the one that comes out a week from now because it will change before December 11. That is the one you can bitch about if you don't agree. Save yourself some stress and just realize it's all about the ratings and the money

My thoughts exactly, to some extent.
So Utah started so low in the polls that they despite being 7-1 can only rise so high. If UW beats them, they won't get a huge bump. If Utah beats UW, watch UW tumble down 8-10 spots. And I know the only poll that matters is what the CFB playoff committee gives us, but I think even those guys are somewhat influenced by the polls.

The Nebraska situation gets fixed this weekend when Wisconsin beats them.
Does Wisky have anything left in the tank after Mich St, Mich, OSU, IOWA and now NEB? I relate this to what Arkansas just went through with A&M, Bama, Ol Miss and then Auburn. They had nothing left in the tank and Auburn smashed them.

Not sure how much Wisconsin has left, they've got some significant injuries like Nebraska. 9 points seems like too many, even at home.
