Certainly not the Dale Carnegie method in action here....but Maris I suppose you have the right.
When people are wrong and they lose a lot of $$$ though, it doesn't help in forging friendships to pile it on...they know they lost.
Willie is a great capper and I respect the heck out of the guy. YUP, he was wrong and was one of the many smart cappers here that had trouble getting past the opening line. I don't fault him or anybody else for it... I mean BAS, barney, amwllc etc were all hesitant because of the line.
The lesson learned is the one I thought was in play...that the linesmakers simply opened a bad line
Frequently in a football game there are times were they create a "false favorite", usually a 3pt line
Nobody really could believe they opened the wrong line, which they did, and thus some of the true veterans here just couldn't get past that fact
It's a NEW SCHOOL of NFL where looking at a season only tells you so much, the Giants (and last year, Packers) are the major proof of such changes.
The game was very competitive and close throughout most of the way, it was what the NFL wants.
I think I speak for many when I say although it was a GREAT game, it still seemed to lack some of the ooomph of past Super Bowls when truly elite teams made it to the end. This season really didn't have teams that were as exceptional as some past years.
Not to take away because many super bowls are pretty lame. But Maris man you were 100% correct in your line analysis and I certainly hope your account reflects your position.
I took 'em for 1st Q, Game and Pats TT U (paparazzi play) and made nice bank.
Final note...Maris you got skills and promise and are a major contributor in many ways, remember that with that passion comes the need to work well with everybody else because there's a lot to learn....you won't get much better info on the Pats than from someone like Willie, and you won't find many cappers better than a Barney in any sport.
I've been watching highlights for like 12 hours now....lol, what an awesome game.
Just to ramble a bit more...
I felt it before these playoffs began and it was proven out believe in this game
The days of Bill B and Tom B dominating have past
They are still the cream of the crop and best in the biz
But their style and methods have been around long enough that they have been uncovered, dissected and understood
They will continue to dominate, but may never regain the swagger of their old years
Although BB is light years ahead of Steve Spurrier, it reminds me of that scenario to a T
Spurrier came in with an innovative fun and gun that worked for a decade, after which every SEC team studied and eventually uncovered the weaknesses
Eventually it became a good but not devastating style, and thus he is learning to incorporate defense now
The real test of BB's enduring genius is whether or not he has another chapter to turn...does BB have something else to offer or a new twist or change on things that will propel the Pats into another dominating season and SB romp? At this point I am not so sure, his brightest days may be in the past.
And I've always been a big fan, but those that said the taping scandal was a HUGE deal may have been right, it sure seems that ever since then, they invincibility has been gone...There was always a sense he "knew" what the other team was going to do, and perhaps that had more to do with it than I thought.
To conclude though, Eli Manning has placed himself at the top of the heap and imo now has shown Rodgers and Brees that there is more to being the top QB than being a prolific passer. He has "it", the 4th quarter execution and mindset to lead any team to victory. He is, whether others agree or not, the best QB in NFL football as of right now.
I'll take a guy who gets it done in the 4th quarter every time, over a gunslinger. Brady, Rodgers, Brees, etc are still great, but I will give it to the man for now, Eli is King.
