all those years of drinking effected his ability to make himself clear. he meant ND needs to lower thier standards to allow a better quality of black athletes in. ND has plenty of black athletes but not the top blue chippers they need to maintain thier huge NBC contract in the long run. i dont know if its bad coaching because willingham has been a proven motivator and teacher but its not showing up on the field at ND.perhaps hes recruiting future doctors and not NFL caliber QBs huh?

Willingham has been a super coach with quarterbacks.Todd Husek was NOTHING at Stanford until Willingham got a hold of him and changed him to a sharp qb.Troy Walters was not much as a reciever either.But he shined w/ Husak throwing him the ball.Willingham had a upset going in the Rose Bowl a few years back when they played Wisconsin as big DOG.they ran out of horses in that game, but got the job done where it counts---------plus the points.

WILLINGHAM TOOK ALL OF DAVEY PLAYERS AND RECRUITS AND HAD A BETTER RECORD FOR SURE, BUT HIS WIN MARGIN WASN'T AS GOOD AS DAVEY'S AGAINST THE SAME COMPETITION. PROOF IN THE PUDDING. ONE GAME ND DESTROYED NAVY UNDER DAVEY, THE NEST YEAR WILLINGHAM AND THE IRISH HAVE TO FIGHT FOR THEIR LIVES.

AND HIS GREAT DEFENSE, WHICH DAVEY BUILT AND CONSTRUCTED.
