I think that if you are an able bodied person you should work and save your own money and plan for your own retirement. Then if your family or someone else thinks you are a responsible person and wants to leave you something I do not see anything wrong with that. Many people are living longer these days so if your parents have money, you may not see it until you are in your 50's. What's funny is many of these posts talk about giving money to charity. Many charities are good, and people who are disabled or cannot work definitely need help, but many charities have people running them who take a big cut and find other ways to mishandle the money. Do they deserve the money more than a family member? If your kids/relatives are good people and have worked hard, why the hell would you not want to leave them a little something??? Wouldn't all of us want future generations in our family to live better? Why is it more responsible to find ways to spend the money before you die, than helping out a family member go to college etc...??? I think there are many ways to look at this issue.
