as some of you know, my line of work is ethnography. i interview all different types of people about all different types of things. last week i conducted one on one interviews and focus groups in long beach, ca, and irvine, ca. almost all the people i interviewed in long beach were homosexual males and african american males ages 26-40 and in irvine the same age group but made up of mostly asian and white males. (so a very broad demographic) i couldnt believe my ears when we would get to the part of the interview regarding when they would consider buying the types of goods i was inquiring about. my guess is that 90% of them said that "when obama gets them a stimulus check" or "as soon as they find a job, and they thought it would be coming soon because obama was going to fix the housing market in the next 6 months" (irvine has alot of construction and mortgage industry people) i couldnt believe it. these people had some strange answers to the questions. one guy thought obama was going to get rid of his credit card interest. another guy even told me that he's confident that if he didnt find a job soon it didnt matter because the obama admin would soon be drafting legislation to pay off some of his mortgage for him. i didnt follow the campaign, but what did he promise these people? what is wrong with the US?
