Greetings and salutations. I haven't been active on this site for a very long time. Alcoholism and drug addiction almost cost me my life. For those who remember me I have been in and out of recovery (AA) for many years. I am grateful in saying i am in my 11th month of sobriety.
My sobriety date is July 7th 2016. Prior to that date my addictions had me hit all new lows. I spent the last 7 months of my active addiction literally living on the streets of Philadelphia and Atlantic city. Numerous detoxes, jails, and psyche wards weren't enough. I also suffered a second (cocaine induced) heart attack, I now have 5 stents in my heart. Last June I survived a very serious suicide attempt as well.
I literally crawled into a rehab as a broken, drunk bum. Since then I slowly have been recovering. I am happy to report I am alive and well and sober, currently living in Naples, Florida.
Its scary what I had to go through to reach a low enough existence to finally have a desire to change my life. I could not have done it alone. (I also have a deep spiritual connection which prob shouldn't be discussed here).
Anyway, I have been scratching a guilty pleasure and had made a few NBA wagers over the past several weeks which prompted me to remember some really good times here at the
Rx 10+ years ago. Been doing some research and watching mlb lately as well and thinking of posting some X-Rated plays again.

I think I will look around the site a little and see who is here and what new (or same old) things are going on around here!

Hope all is well with my old friends and look forward to making some new ones.
Thanx,
Maxxx

First, great fking job. GREAT FKING JOB. you are on the road that most do not have the strength to find.

My advice is to move on from gambling, maybe this forum as well.

You obviously shouldn't have any distractions from here on out. based on your input, you will probably struggle from this day forward.

Don't let a bullshit losing bet trigger you.

It can happen in a blink of an eye.

Get hooked on exercise or poetry....

Above all, understand that you have to manage your well being. You are no longer the type to casually bet, drink, get high.

You will probably face boredom issues, thus, get hooked on something else.

I suggest picking up guitar. You can learn basics pretty quick yet, you will never know enough. I like this over golf as you can always reach or your geeeeetar and rock out.

My 2 cents brother. Im pulling for you!

I worry gambling could be a trigger and another oppoetunity for selfdestructive behavior. But I don't know you to know that either. Never get too confident in your recovery and keep living right. Grats on bouncing back. That isn't easy.

Sobriety is a gift. Waking up every day without feeling horrible from substance abuse is a great feeling!

You owe it to your body to heal. Eat something healthy every now and then too.
