There is something wrong with the other thread about the Colts/Ravens game or I would have posted this there.
I'm laying the 6 points on the Colts tonight (plenty of 6 still around).
For several reasons.
1. The QB mismatch League MVP Peyton Mannying vs banged up and in over his head Joe Flacco.
The Ravens gave Tom Brady fits last week because he had to throw and they played stunts blitz up the middle with their fine linebackers all day. Both Brady and Manning will eat blitzers coming off the edge alive, so look for the Ravens to try the samething against the well rested Colts interior O line led by All Pro Center Jeff Saturday.
I have hunch the Colts will be ready for those stunts. Advantage Colts in a big way.
2. No one plays from ahead as well as Indy which will be their game plan to get ahead before The Ravens get their ground game going. Last week Ray Rice went 83 yards on the game's first play. He won't do it again this week. Should the Ravens somehow get a 10 to 14 point lead then the Colts will have to come out of their Tampa 2 deep saftey defense and play 8 in the box to contain Rice. Something all Colts backers do not want to see.
What they want to se is the Colts put the Ravens in a position where they have to throw to get back in the game thus putting the game in Flacco's hands - not a good situation for Baltimore. The Colts need to break on top, something they are very adept at.
3. The Colts receiving corps and their retationship with Peyton Manning. Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie and sure handed Joseph Addai for check downs out of the back field are much better than Randy Moss and a group of trying but outmanned Pats receivers the Ravens faced last week.
When Manning throws for more than 200 yards Indy doesn't lose. Playing against a patch work Raven seconday Manning if given time will pick the Ravens apart, Ed Reed notwithstanding.
4. Offensive Tackles vs Defensive Ends - The Ravens feel their young and talented (and big) bookend Offensive tackles Michael Oher and Jared Gaither can push around the All Pro super quick but smallish defensive ends Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney. My money is riding on the veteran All Pros to stop Rice (and McGahee) with the help of a very fast Colt defense that will swarm to the ball. Flacco doesn't figure to fool anyone with play action.
5. Protect the ball - earlier this year Manning got picked off twice is a 17-15 Colts win in Baltimore. He cannot do that tonight. The Colts have won 25 straight when they have no turnovers. Colt braintrust has been preaching hold on to the ball for two weeks.
The two picks off PM and a fumble by the now injured TE Tom Santi in the first game in November allowed the Ravens to hang around until Matt Stover won it with a late FG.
The Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff kicked 5 field goals for the Ravens who could not get in the Colts end zone despite their then mess of a defensive secondary.
Speaking of kickers The Colts lose little with Adam Vinatieri out as Veteran Matt Stover has kicked 9 of 11 FGs and all 33 PATs as his back-up.
Bottom line in front of a racaus full house in the Lucas Oil Dome, The Colts superb passing game, barring another monster ground game from Ray Rice and his talented back-up Willis McGahee will allow Indy to advance to The AFC Championship Game without a lot of difficulty and cover the widely available six point spread while doing it....
Play on Colts -6 -110 (or less juice if you can find it) for two units.
BOL. to all.. wil.:toast:
