And wallet...The TTech/Texas game has sent me packing....This game is a microcosm of my gambling in the past 14 months....I have what looks like an easy win on the Under 75.5 for the 2nd half...Game nowhere near the total, also have TTech-1 for game up 3 late...Coach Knight lets Texas have a 3 instead of the foul and BINGO he nails a 3 with a player hanging all over him....Game goes OT I lose both plays....And this game is actually the normal way I lose games,lol...I lose more games this way and this is why I am DONE!

For those that can win regularly well more power to you...I cannot believe how often I am on the wrong end of these endings....

I make about 80k a year and my passion is sports, I have been a player for about 12 years and nothing has ever come close to the past 14 months....I must be down 50 dimes since last Nov. and my record the past 14 months has to be 40% if that...I AM SPEECHLESS

Journeyman, while I would suggest to anyone more than not to avoid the life of gambling at all costs if they want a balanced life(this includes even many of the less than 1% that beat it consistently), you at minimum need to take a walk for a while.

Hey, the NBA can brutal to the most savvy, and many players don't even mess with it any longer(sans playoffs).

Walk away and live a better life if you can, but if the bug will lead you back, then a good rule of thumb is to go back to the basics after a long break, or follow those that you know can consistently best something.

Action and more specifically, Hoops action has busted as many sharps as MLB or Foots, despite being even lower on the totem-pole in it's attraction..imho..so don't beat yourself up..dust yourself off, and saddle back up when ready.

GL Journeyman, get back that peace of mind & your health.

I have tried taking breaks, I even started pulling money after a bad beat just to stop the bleeding...I almost believe someone is watching over me and "teaching me a lesson" so to speak...I know everyone has had their share of bad beats, but it never fails and its been a mountain of them in the past year or so...I have even lowered my wager amounts, tried following well known respected appers at times ( always on their off night lol)

I tell ya though, in some ways I feel like Pete Rose,lol...maybe thats why I hate Rose now...I was a very competetive athlete and played collegiate soccer (Division I) and always had that thrill of high level competition...

Now I just watch sports mainly and thats where I get my only competetive rush....As an ex player I always thrived and had great confidence, now after this losing streak , my confidence is rocked and really have no clue how to replace that rush of competition, honestly nothing else can....

Anyone that doesn't walk away at least a few times a year is gonna burn out..fast!

Go the gym, lift, treadmill, sit in the steam..walk your dog..go to the movies with your wife..read books(some not from GBC!)..don't watch any sports besides the SuperBowl for the next month..you'll be surprised at the change of your overall self in 30 days.

Horseshoe- Personally havent burned out in 23 years.

I would burn to death if I didnt have action on a particular day....be it sports, stocks, or being a fan.

Can understand needing a rest though.

Fish- "mental health"

my whole existense since I can remember has been about sports and competition..What else is there though lol?

Blue- what perspective? someone please tell me, because my whole life has been about trying to win,or having big biceps lol..shallow but thats all I really know...

I use to win at gambling much more than I would lose, I really think winning large amounts in the past has turned out to be the worst thing I could have done...I can`t even watch a game anymore really...Very few games have any meaning or interest now...I don`t even get excited unless I have a nickel on a gme,lol...I am not a wealthy man , I make good money but nothing ridiculous...and really I don`t even need to win , just break even or lose some, but the way I have lost in the past year (every fu cking game seems like a loss at the very end on some fluke shit) has just really beat me down ...Before ever visiting the forums I didn t even realize most people lost,lol...

Journeyman - everyone has bad breaks.

You're losing, not because of your bad breaks but because you are not beating the odds compilers.

Simple - i'd quit if i knew i couldn't beat the odds compiler too. Fair play to you if you kick it.

J-man-

you can always go back to being that "bookie" that you claimed to be. Or you could always go and try your hand like Don King or Bob Arum and promoate boxing matches.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune journey.
Ill simply remind you of many moons ago when we first met, i had a similiar experience and came close to hanging it up as well.

My lord thankfully i didnt. We all go through it and its how we handle it that determines what we will become. Perhaps look at this as your graduation thesis
E mail me through the other site and i have a suggestion for you

PS
i had texas in this match and went to watch vegas with 3 secs left down 3. I was stunned to check in and find an ot winner a half hour later
Who cares how you lose them, its not a message
take a small break and come back firing big time

What a shock (Shick Quatro aka Fred 'my stalker" Norris) chiming in,lmao...funny how he doesn t question anything about me losing 50k...but questions my NEt income (not g**** Fred) NET! I can admit when I am wrong and can hangem up a loser!

I have even tried commodity investing with mixed results so far, but its not the same as sports...just too stubborn to walk away til now...14 months will do it I guess...

Dog - I am not sure what you meant by that ...

Here's my take, Journey...I don't have any knowledge of your tendencies, but when you mentioned not being able to get any excitement out of a game unless you have a nickel riding...I think that may be an indicator. When the excitement of the gamble begins to overtake the discipline that's a must to succeed at this (or even simply survive). Perhaps a stretch where you simply handicap the schedule and pass on actually betting might get you back to your basics. It sounds a little bit like you may have gotten away from what had made you a consistent winner. No reason you can't get back to that level.
