Nebraska coach Frank Solich is looking into an allegation that a Cornhusker player assaulted a Missouri fan when the crowd at Faurot Field charged the field after the Tigers' 41-24 win.
KOMU-TV in Columbia aired video Monday showing what it said was 'Husker holder Kellen Huston punching a fan.
"We'll try to view the tape of it," Solich said in the weekly Big 12 conference call. "Other than that, I don't have much knowledge of what transpired. ... It was a situation where there were a lot of people moving a lot of different directions.
"Any time people charge the field, you do, as a coach, get concerned for the safety of your other coaches. You get concerned for the safety of your players. I certainly was in that mode."
Missouri coach Gary Pinkel was first alerted to the incident when quarterback Brad Smith told Pinkel he witnessed the assault after the game and moved to protect the fan.
"It's amazing," Pinkel said. "We just won a pretty big game and he played pretty well and he comes right up to me. I thought he was going to hug me, and he starts telling me about this guy who just got knocked down. That's the kind of player he is. That's the kind of kid he is."
