Don't even bother calling me a "stiff" or anything else. Never said I wasn't going to pay it (eventually)
I am struggling like many other people are. Took a part time job delivering pizzas in the city (Philly) Saturday and Sunday nights. Because they (the pizza place) are/is struggling the hours aren't very good (I get two 4-hour shifts and don't even make $40 most nights)
But every little bit helps and $70 a weekend is $70 more than what I had going into the weekend.
I get this parking ticket in the mail. Says I parked in a handicapped spot and the fine is $300.
Now I really wouldn't ever park in a handicapped spot ever. At least not knowingly. In fact I really question that in terms of factuality.
I know that this "ticket" was me delivering somebody's pizza and I was in and out quick whichever way you slice it.
I keep my flashers on and the pizza place's menu in my window (which seems to be what everyone does so that nothing like this happens)
The part that irks me the most (other than the ridiculous amount of the fine) is the ticket claims "Driver drove away - refused the ticket" which is just garbage. Nothing like that ever happened.
The reason (I would guess) that the ticket shows up in the mail is because I was in-and-out before the officer could actually even write the thing.
None of this makes it "right" (I get it) and I feel that taking it to court will just result in "He said you were there so tough shit" - I don't expect any common sense applied when there is a city going broke and there is $300 on the line.
The other end of this (besides me being in and out quick and the officer not even having enough time to write a ticket and then saying "I refused it") is that I did have my flashers on and a pizza menu in the window - all of this alot of "ooops" from the officer to swallow $300.
