OFFENSIVE LINE B
They provided Matt Schaub with good protection, allowing one sack and helping the backs average 4.1 yards a carry, almost all by Ron Dayne.
DEFENSIVE LINE A
They shut down the run and put enough pressure on Drew Brees to throw him off. Mario Williams had his best game, including his fifth sack. Earl Cochran forced a fumble.
LINEBACKERS B+
DeMeco Ryans and Morlon Greenwood combined for 19 tackles. Greenwood had an interception. Along with Danny Clark, they bottled up Reggie Bush and shut down the run.
DEFENSIVE BACKS A-
Von Hutchins had his first interception in his first start. C.C. Brown forced a fumble and recovered another. Fred Bennett made a huge fourth-down play. Will Demps made big plays.
SPECIAL TEAMS B
Kris Brown kicked three field goals, including a 53-yarder. Matt Turk averaged 46.3 yards a punt. Coverage was good. Jacoby Jones averaged 10.3 yards on punt returns.
COACHING A
With two weeks to prepare, Gary Kubiak and his staff simplified the game plan and asked the players to focus more on doing their jobs rather than what the Saints were doing.
