Because the players felt they could hide behinf their all powerful and might union and owners couldn't do a thing about it. And the owners, turned a blind eye and secretly imo appauled steriod use b/c that made them $$$$$$$..Fans came out, ratings soared. The 1998 home run chase between Mcgwire and Sosa came three yrs after there was no World Series. They wanted people to forget the past, so therefore this record chasing run manifested artificially b/c roids was just what they wanted. If they tell you any different then they are liars. Reluctantly, only b/c Congress got involved and this has become a national issue, have the players but this in the CBA. All of baseball is guilty.

I am not sure what to think of all this. Since I haven't followed bases much in the past, I don't get as involved. I seen some fo the testimony on ESPN. Pretty simple fix, like fighting, just suspend their butts for a long while and give em' no pay. Simple fix.

The owners don't really want to eliminate performance enhancers-don't restrict it to steroids-the players have no reason to admit anything, and the politicians are in it for the TV exposure. Call me when the World Series starts, until then I'd rather mow the lawn.
