How Pinnacle lied to it's customers

Pinnacle made a blanket statement that saying
due to Las Vegas rules it was voiding MNF bets.
I guess the Las Vegas Hilton/Ceasars Palace isn't a big enough book representative of Las
Vegas. They honored the bets. It comes down to
this Pinnacle was overloaded with huge MNF bets
on the Dolphins. This is not a NGC rule. If all
Nevada bookmakers voided the bets then I wouldn't be complaining. Pinnacle is a big enough book to handle the action.

You may want to learn how to read before opening your mouth:
As clearly stated in Rule 3 -

#3

Unless noted before a contest, all events must be played on the scheduled date and at the scheduled site to have action.

They lied, huh ?

Maybe you should have read their rules:

"Unless noted before a contest, all events must be played on the scheduled date and at the scheduled site to have action."

Edit: Sorry, doc. I'm always a day late and a dollar short.

No they lied saying it was a Las Vegas rule.
Just say it's their rule. Again, the Nevada
Gaming Control Board doesn't stipulate this
rule. There are several Las Vegas shops honoring this bet. Do me a favor, call the NGC
and ask them yourself.

No book is perfect, but it does stand to be that Pinnacle Sports is atop the non perfect books. This situation is rare and there will be reasons for a book to review their rules.

Jack brings up a very good point here. Pinnacle does have an incorrect statement posted on the their betting menu tonight. The one thing that has really aggrevated me about this Miami- San Diego game is when these offshore books are talking about "Las Vegas rules". I hate to pee in their Cheerios but there really is no such thing.

That's because each property in Las Vegas has "house rules" for its Race and Sports book. They vary from property to property. The Nevada Gaming Commission allows each establishment to set it's house rules and they must be clearly posted so customers can read them. Now, most of the sportsbooks pretty much have the same rules while you will find many differences in the race books.

Now for tonights game, some places voided the wagers and some allowed them to stand depending on what is posted in that sportsbooks rules. This caused a lot of confusion on tonights game. Last years Wisconsin- UNLV game was a strange circumstance being postponed due to a power failure with about 8 minutes left in the game but all sportsbooks have the 55 minute rule for football so even though there were some angry bettors, everyone was on the same sheet of music.

After tonights mess, I think you'll see the Nevada Gaming Commission get off their asses and meet with some sportsbook managers and there will be a uniform policy adopted.

It's really moronic for Pinnacle to try to quote someone elses rules when their own rules clearly state that the bets are void.

Man people are so amazingly picky around here. Almost all books have a list of rules and then end with LV rules apply to any situation not listed here. Well most "LV rules" are covered by the rules so its only to cover something completely unforseen. This isn't unforseen, the idea of moving a game isn't a concept that is overlooked and the rules just about everywhere deal with them.

The NGC has no set rules on any type of gambling game, they just require all books to post what rules they use. Just as some casinos have different rules on how to handle a soft 17, they just have to clearly post their rule on that. Every book did follow their posted rules, just the Park Place books for whatever reason didn't include this scenario in their rules in a likely oversight. No surprise there, they are amongst the worst places to play in Vegas and have been for quite some time. Nice setting at those places, but very crappy odds and managers.

Cry me a f'ing river.....

Maybe it's not written in stone that they are LV rules, but common sense will tell you that a change of venue does have a very real impact on the outcome-especially when the change is over 300 miles.

You have nothing to bitch about, and no-you're not going to get the monster middle that you are probably whining about.

Venue rule wasn't in Roxy's Appendix B "House Rules" section of his race/sports book management book. It has the game must be played on date specified, but doesn't mention venue.

LVSC put out a notice recommending bets counted unless book specifically had a venue rule posted.

As a bettor I like the consistentcy of all the books being on one page and cancelling the wagers. But this doesn't appear to be a old school Vegas rule. This will likely spur books to add it.

As for Pinnacle, they have it as a posted rule.

Absolutely wrong - can you guess which book considers a bet as binding at HALF-TIME??? Give up? SIA - I know, I lost on that game there - unreal.

The Coast properties offered anyone with a San Diego ticket a full refund and allowed Miami tickets to stand.

Nice move. The probably only had 3 refunds.

Quit your whining, they told you about it before time and were well within the rules. Only the Park Place casinos in Vegas did not refund tickets, and they are less than competitive in the Vegas sportsbook world. Don't put a subject up that says they lied and try and make them look bad. They covered the situation well as did many other books.
I told you last night people would be on here bitching and scamming about this. Everyone knows home field is worth approximately three points in the NFL and presto what did the line change.
So quit your complaining and move on.

WHy did you choose Pinnacle to pick on? I see the exact same statement at at least 5 other online books.

LV rule or not...
I was happy to see Pinnacle post a note on their homepage letting their customers know what was going on.
I have 10 outs and NONE of the others mentioned a damn thing about wagers being cancelled.

As to the phrasing of "Vegas Rules."
Since the off-shore is bigger than LV now isn't it time we had "Island" rules that Vegas followed?
