With today's 9-1 loss to Boston the Royals have lost 18 of 22 and are 2-14 on the road. Curt Schilling pitched a complete game 5 hiter today for the Red Sox. Pokey Reese had two homers (1 in the park) to lead the Sox attack.

Speaking of the Red Sox (heheh) shortstop Nomar Garciaparra took batting practice Saturday for the first time since injuring his right Achilles' tendon in spring training. ''I'm definitely excited to be out here,'' he said before Boston's game against the Kansas City Royals. ''I can see it is improving every day, and when you see that, it starts to get exciting.'' Garciaparra had just eight at-bats this spring before he was injured. Although the team initially hoped he could be ready for the start of the season, his rehab has been slower than first expected.

The Royals pitching staff always seem to find a way to lose...

They don't really have one dependable starter. The bullpen seems to pitch well when losing and bad when they need them most. MacDougal is back, but IMO he is very shaky.

Last Red Sox to hit 2 homers in same game that included an inside the park job was Tony Armas in 1983. (a bit of trivia).

I hate to see a small market team like the Royals struggle soo bad early in the year. The sad part of it is, is that they have a great hitting lineup. If only they could rely on someone out of the pen to get a few outs they wouldnt be all that bad. The saddest part of the whole collapse is that Beltran will most certainly be a bleeping Yankee come the trade deadline. That is the one problem that i have with the game of baseball. The rich get richer. MLB needs a salary cap. I love the game, but things such as this are detering the game for most of us small market fans. We hate the Yankees and Red Sox. Thats the facts.

Tony Pena says the royals will win the division! I picked the Royals to win the division but cmon! It's only May, but I think it's safe to say, they're done.

They had phenomenal cameraderie last year. This year, who knows?
