Unless you can survive on a VERY tight budget, you need a decent bankroll if you want to live a low-stress life as a gambler.

We'll assume rent/mortgage is $500/month (which is relatively low).

Utils (cable, electric, etc) are $150.

Food, $10 per day. $300 per month. This is probably a low figure if you go to restaurants.

Car insurance, entertainment/alcohol, travel, gas, etc. Maybe you want new clothes. You get the point. It adds up.

In order for me to seriously consider gambling full-time, I'd need at least 100k for bankroll.

I`d say 100K bankroll...for an example if a Pro bets 1 dime per game and makes 1000 plays per year (that would be roughly an avg of 3 per day) and can hit 55%

winnings 550,000
losers 495,000

Net 55K

I wonder how much stress woul be involved though, it would not seem to be 'stress free' as Funk Money suggests

I would say 100k is the Mendoza line for a stress-free gambling life.

Also, what about taxes on the 55k? If you pay full taxes, that will definitely decrease your margin-for-error (and increase stress).

Ken survives on taking $.50 to the dollar on food stamp exchanges for an extra $75.00 per month, and suplementing it with the ~ $150 per week he makes at truck stops performing "services" in the bathrooms.

So, you're looking at $150 X 5 (weeks) + $75 = $825 per month.

Of course, he drops $500 on the Don Best screen, so in conclusion you only need $325 per month to fail as a professional gambler.

FWIW, I didn't play either, but I really thought there was value on Calgary.

I think for one to even try and begin, he or she may be better off planning on cutting some bad habits to reduce the overhead. Smoking, drinking, drugs, movies, etc....

Minimize expenses and then you will not need as much to begin.

If someone has to do what you suggested, Gen, then he needs to find another profession because sports betting aint his forte.

Ivan, your going to have to know how much money that you need each month to live your current lifestyle..... For me, i can make it fine on only 3k per month, so id need $36,000 after taxes to survive... you can easily plug in the amounts of wagers and a win percentage to see what you need to do in order to make the desired amount each month..... Simple mathematics will work and you can base it on flat betting at the standard (-1.10) juice.... 55%-58% is all that i would figure on....

Ivan is in Canada where there is no tax
for lottery & gambling winnings.

BTW, didn't the USA go to war with Britain
over tax?

I wonder how much a pro casino gambler would need.

BTW, online casinos offer much better bonus
percentages...often 50, 100, 200% on initial deposits
...than sportsbooks.
