Just a guess of course, but not including bookies to net 60k very rare. To wager 60k I would guess A whole lot, many that would not guess that they were even close.

I wish we could bet ov/un on this horrible #

In fact it would be canceled due to the "bad line" rule.

I didn't see that he said U.S only but it is still over.

There are that many asian scalpers/middlers that made that last year.

I think 100 dimes in winnings would put someone in the top 200 sportsgamblers in the U.S. for a given year. 60K a year, there might be 500 to 1000 doing that in sports, with 500 being the most likely, IMO.

What would you guess the cut for the top 200 would be for U.S. spoertsgamblers? The top 200 tennis players or golfers in the world don't make 100 dimes in winnings, I don't think...not that they're related (as I breathe my dog's fart). I don't think there would be more than 200 making 200 dimes in a year.

100k in winnings puts you in the top 200?

I would say top 10,000 maybe. Maybe.

Now Im not saying 100K for 6 years straight or anything, but 100K for any given year? 200?

Do you think pinnacle has 50K limits on NFL games for nothing?

Its not even a matter of someone being an expert at sportsgambling. Its just that there are a lot more people betting a lot more than you think. Charles Barkley won 700k on the superbowl! So he is in the top 200 and there are only 199 spots left?

One of my friends dads, who is a doctor, won 100K on last years superbowl. It was his only bet of the year. I think you are far underestimating the amount of people that just bet bigger than what you are used to.

Honestly, I would guess the cutoff for the top 200 is a million a year.

The bubble for the dance is 3 million, and the BCS game is 10 million.

Barkley and J-Lo making Super Bowl bets don't count. These celebrity gamblers lose their asses all year, but they win a big Super Bowl bet and suddenly they're a star. The same for the doctor/gamblers.

Why did Pinny have $50 k limits? They had a lot of "syndicate" action and a ton of bookmakers laying off.

Celebrities, syndicates and bookmakers don't count for this discussion.

That was just a joke.

I do think you are extremely low with your estimate.

You and I both live in the central florida area and I personally know 4 people who made 60K on sportsbetting last year, and I dont know a lot of people. Unless we are living in a hotspot of winners, I really think 200 is an unbelievably low estimate - but what do I know.

I'd like to hear Sean's take on this. He feels pretty strongly, judging from past posts, that there's not very many winning sportsgamblers out there, and we're talking about 100 to 200 dimes in a year.

it would be easy to make 5-10 bets and be up 60k. Now make 200 bets and be up 60k and it would be very rare.

Poker alone must have thousands that top 60k a year. Just think about all the big sunday tourneys that most sites have. On pokerstars alone, I think all 9 people that make the final table get 60K+. Sure some of them give it all back, but I imagine quite a few hold on to that and make even more.

I think that's the reason why people gamble, they think it's fairly easy to become a millionaire wagering, only a handful of people could win that much in a year, even less year in and year out...

JMHO, that's been naive
