needed a Government program to help you succeed?

do you believe taking money from the wealthy and giving it to you was important?

Government did nothing for me, nothing at all, except to pay for public schooling. PERIOD

This is the type of bullshit Obama is peddling.

I almost forgot, whenever they change the tax laws, they're helping me today. :103631605

so far I'm seeing education and loans, nothing about income redistribution

nothing about raising taxes on one group to give them to another

The federal government made roads for me, my local government provided policemen for me, the state government built parks for me. It has provided an envioronment in which I feel safe to walk the streets and send my child out to play. The government has helped my parents in their retirement and has helped my child with the local libraries.

I never went to public school and never paid a dime for college. I could be the first person to trash people for using public schools ... but I don't .. I will leave that to the people who have no problem taking $8,000 worth of schooling each year but want to complain about someone getting into a free $400 lunch program.

Of course we can justify all we take ... and categorize everything else as excess ... but that would be too easy ... I will leave that to the bitching and moaning crowd ... cry me a river.

After this, there is going to be a "What has your church given you in return?" thread opened by gtc ... I can see it coming.

i got a grant. i knew a couple people who took advantage of the system and got food stamps somehow while in school.

id like to see the income redistributed though because i'm not going to be making 250k or more in the near future and want the people who make more then that to pay all the taxes. i dont want old man mccain to make me pay more.

GREAT Post Cincy. Those who mindlesly complain about the Governement don't want to hear the truth. Somehow, during the Reagan years, and I give Reagan and his sheep full credit for pulling it off, Government became a dirty word.

The tax as it is now applied gives the high earners too much of a break and passes the shortcoming on to future generations.

It is not a matter of taking from the rich and giving to the poor as much is it is living within our means and the poor and middle class are already strapped. The rich are the only ones who can afford to pay.

I am not for a welfare state but people should be able to afford to live and have health care and presently many cannot.

Much of the current situation is caused by the wealthy and big business having control of the government for most of the last 40 years.

great post

:lolBIG:

I guess if you believe the government should provide for national defense and public education, you thus should be supporters of every government program some politician can dream of, including expanding the welfare state under the guise of tax cuts.

OK

Of course, I'm still looking for an example of how a tax cut helped someone to succeed in life, the very thing Obama said his tax cuts will make possible.

Is this an example of how his proposed tax cuts will enable the poor to succeed?

But you ignore our road system and public education, farm programs and many others.

How is that? I'm for school choice for the poor, Obama wants to keep that a privilege for the wealthy only.
