The more I read it almost seems like some prefer to never call in a wager or even call in when there`s a dispute, all done via email and instant messaging...its hard enough to communicate when you have a live operator , I always prefer phone over emails...I couldn`t imagine doing banking back here in the states just by emailing

Maybe its because I've grown up with computers, but I'd much rather deal with them over email than try and speak with some clerk who can't speak English on the phone.

Not to mention email (and internet betting as a whole) is much more discreet for those of us whose girlfriends/wives would not appreciate weekly calls/visits to the bookie.

One thing that baffles me though , when a dispute arrises most will still do this by email...

I don't agree...the books I've worked for only have problems pointed out via email about 10% of the time.
Most people will call when they have a problem.

Do it over e-mail ESPECIALLY when it has to do with disputes. You don't want to be on the phone, in a 'taped' & worse, LIVE conversation when it comes to disputes. With e-mail, you've got time to think things over and reply with your precise thoughts, rather than slip up during the conversation and say something you didn't mean to say, and then taken the wrong way, and turned against you etc.

Plus, e-mail controls your emotions..somewhat .

Journeyman,

I had a person email me once to help in a dispute soley because he refused to talk on the phone with the strangers. He was really nervous. I recommended a xanax, then I made the call

The hangover effect is bad. A little cleaner than valium. Nerve pills and booze were the greatest high for me, but they will kill the gambling. When inducing xanax/valium and alcohol, there is No fear. Evrything looks a winner. A loss is not near as bad, until you do get out of bed and realize what happended.

Call me ancient but I prefer to deal with people on the phone. Put people on the spot and they are more likely to be responsive. Email is so impersonal and can be blown off with a simple keystroke. When I have a problem with my girlfriend, I call. A problem with a co-worker, I approach them. I am a confrontational person and prefer as much contact as possible.

As for keeping records, I tape all my conversations. Email and the impersonality that comes along with it has eroded social grace as we know it.

I consider it a failure on the part of the book if I have to call. I hate to do it. Now if it is to just "shoot the shit" with someone I know at a book, that is cool.

I have done it once, 1996 or something. I haven't even request bonuses if I have to do it via phone.

This forum is not representative of gamblers. By the fact that it is an internet website it screens out a percentage of the population before anything gets asked. It's like asking a brazilian forum who do they think the best soccer player of all times is? (same runs for Argentina) Answer is bound to be skewed.

I think books are running within the range of 60%-80% customers that are exclusively internet based. We are at 70%. I'd be interested to know if any other bookmakers have different % of internet/phone customers.

I prefer to call always.

Most are hard to understand because of language barrirers and the connections always seem terrrible. SOunds like they are talking to me via a can and string.

I would really prefer to email or live chat if there is a problem so if things get a little heated I get a chance to think about what I want to say and remain calm. Yelling never gets anything resolved.
