In light of the talk about a security hole which allows for stealing credit card numbers and bank account numbers; have you completely stopped using IE?

I was using Firefox, but saw where they wanted you to download a patch for some type of security hole?

None of these browsers are safe -proof.

neither is explorer though, an for that matter windows, would they post security update patches every other day had they been secure? If anyone has the knoledge and time at hand and wants to fvck anyone real badly be it your high street bank or your average user, they can do so, plain and simple.

I've never used IE exclusively, always used Netscape, Opera for a while, then went to Mozilla, which is Netscape without the ads/content, just the pure browser. I only keep IE on the machine because occasionally you get a site that only functions properly with IE, like Tradesports, for example.

Internet Explorer and MLB Audeo:
For the last three days, when trying to listen to my subscription for audeo MLB on IE, I keep getting the message;; "IE has preformed an illegal operation" (When I read for details all I see is something about a page fault at-----")
I tried everything--scan disk, restating the computer, disk defrag. Nothing helps at all!
So-tonight I'm listening on Firefox with NO problem. I sent MLB an email asking about this and of course--no answer.

oldmantime,

What operating system are you using? Have you tried using the repair option in the control panel in add/remove programs for IE?

Chalk--Since I downloaded the critical-security update this AM--audeo works fine on IE. But I keep that Firefox as a good backup.

I know everybody loves firefox, but I think IE is a little easier to use overall.

I'm running Windows XP Pro with the latest security updates, everything except SP1, and all is working fine.

XP, for me, has been very stable, much more so than 98 or ME ever was.

A word of advice. Always make a system restore point every few days. It can save you a lot of headaches if something goes wrong in the future.

I'm still using 98 se. This was my first real computer. Overall, I'm still satisfied with it. Just wish I had even a little computer training.

My Canadian friend says the same thing you do Chalk about XP Pro--He loves it.

One of these days--this whole computer will probably die it's natural death and then I'll get a real system.
Thanks.

I suspected you either run 98SE or ME. That is your MAIN problem, the operating system itself.

I don't know your financial situation, but I would look into either upgrading your computer to make it ready for XP, or buying a new computer altogether. I promise, you will have a lot less problems that you are having now.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Chalk
What are the specs of your computer--brand etc.

Does Chalk eater-mean that you play the chalk or pass the chalk? I think the Cardinals are a good live dog tonight even though against Schmidt.

I own 2 computers, one desktop and one laptop.

The desktop is a Dell 2.4 GHZ, 60 GB HD, 512 SDRAM, 128 Meg Video Card, DVD, CD-RW, 22 inch Iiyama LCD screen, and Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse.

The laptop is a Fujistu 3.2 GHZ, 60 GB HD, 512 SDRAM, 64 Meg Video Card, DVD-R, CD-RW, 16 inch screen.

I use both of them to monitor the lines, plus I like the flexibility of being able to be anywhere in my house and use the laptop wirelessly.

As far as my name goes, I usally take the underdog, and rarely play the chalk. Chalk, in general, are bet by the betting public.

Hope this helps.

Take care,

CE
