Its been quite a long time since 2 engine planes have been allowed to fly transpacific as well as transatlantic, 767's and 777's mostly. This change was brought about by the increase in engine reliability and the average number of operating hours without failure.
The 767 can fly with neither of the two engines operating! At the time of the changeover to metric in Canada a plane left Toronto for Winnipeg with insufficient fuel, due to a miscommunication regarding the units of fuel. As the plane ran out of fuel over the Ontario-Manitoba border the pilot was able to maintain power to critical systems since the plane is a ramjet and the airflow into the jet engines generates electricity. As he lost altitude he was unable to reach Winnipeg and landed at Gimli, hence the 767 is known to some Canadians as the Gimli glider.
So General don't worry, the plane doesn't need any engines to fly!
