Interesting stuff. My list:

Canada
Mexico
St. Pierre/Miquelon (Part of France, even use the Euro!)
Costa Rica
Guatemala
Panama
Germany
Portugal
Spain

My new goal in life is to make all continents by the time I turn 40. Chances are good because job probably sends me to Australia and Asia in the next few years. Antartica will be hard. Africa is tough choice, where should I go? Could end up just be a short jaunt into Morocco from Spain so I could say I made it. South America is an easy one for me, always wanted to go to Peru, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina.

The question is what do you consider a country?
Are Scotland and England two separate countries? Or just one? The UK?
Anyhow one of my friends considers each country that has an own representation for the Fifa World Cup football a country.
Here we go:

USA
Mexico
Dutch Antilles
England

Spain
Italy (incl. Vatican)

"Africa is tough choice, where should I go? "

South Africa looked interesting (it was one of the stops of the latest Amazing Race) also Nigeria or any of the countries that take it on "safari" tourism, it sure sounds fun to have your picture taken with elephants and the like

For me the list is:

USA
Canada
England
Gibraltar (if it counts separately)
Antigua
Panama
Guatemala
Mexico

Want to add to the list Australia (PIA as its a LONGGGGGGGG flight for me) and would like to go to Argentina

I guess that's 33...Spain and Andorra are next...then maybe Australia...

Living in Europe makes it easy, though, since countries here are like states in the USA (in terms how easy it is to get to them, pass through them etc.)

Monicus,

Actually Serbia is still officially called Yugoslavia, but you are right in that the old Yugoslavia was different from the new one.

If we're counting former countries, then I've also been to East Germany  . Never been to USSR, though...was it difficult to get in and out?

It isn't the prettiest, that is for sure. I guess I am just a positive traveller in that I don't really think any of the places were that bad and you can find good things no matter where you go in the world. Sometimes its the sights, sometimes its the culture, but most times its simply just the people.
