The plain/original sushi, i.e. rice + raw salmon/tuna is pretty good for you, not just low cal but all the oils from the fish also.

Be careful eating too much sushi, the fish does contain traces of mercury. Once in awhile is fine, but if you are eating it a few times a week, probably not a good idea.

Forget counting calories, and read the primal blueprint. It's one of the better books I've read about how to eat properly and incorporate it into today's modern lifestyle. It's all about controlling insulin levels. The premise of the book is that humans did not survive, thrive, and evolve on diets containing the garbage in our food supply today. It also talks about today's myths of what most people think a healthy diet is. Very highly recommended.

If you are around average weight and height for your age. you can eat 2000calories (men) a day if you are active and also working out.

DO not get caught in the obsessiveness of having to be like the models you see on TV ... I have seen many people go nuts trying to look like what the media says is normal. and have gotten some serious life threatening eating disorders Or they freak out cause they want a piece of white bread and they think they will BLOW up if they have a burger so they deny themselves in front of others , while in private the BINGE eat due to the deprivation ..

you know what is healthy don't buy in the Fade diet crap ...

Counting calories is not the answer ! Forget about counting calories and pay attention to what you are eating. You can eat as much great foods as you want if you avoid the bad calories and foods. I'm reading a book by Gary Taubes called " Why we get fat '. Taubes also wrote " Good calories, Bad calories ". Great read !

Kind of a modified paleo. I eat probably double the amount of recommended carbs on the days I lift weights. Clean carbs like sweet potatoes and organic brown rice. The other days I follow the recommendations from the book.

You Paleo Frankie?

The best nutritional advice I've ever gotten is it's not how much you eat, it's what you eat. "If you can't kill it or grow it, don't eat it."

Are we talking about looking healthy or being healthy? Because I could eat a large pizza for every meal and burn off the calories... would look nice but I wouldn't be that healthy...

6-8 small meals a day roughly 300-500 per meal.

One meal a day is not good Harrington. Not good at all.

You seem to be a person that is very aware of good health. Have you read Gary Taubes book yet ? He certainly doesn't seem to agree with your 6-8 meals a day as being ideal.

sharp post.... one meal a day is totally bad... the more small meals you eat the more your body is working to burn stuff off

Really it just depends on your body I guess Kermit. Seems like the health industry has all sorts of thoughts and opinioins similar to a tout I guess. I have read 6-8 is good way more than 2-3 I guess is what I'm saying. Nothing worse than eating at 0800 and then starving at 1 waiting to eat your second meal. I like a good 2 hour wait between meals.

Not true at all. Read the warrior diet book. We are led to believe we need to eat 3-6 meals a day and that is bullshit.

sorry harry I do not believe everything I read.... I believe in what works for me and that is what keeps me slim is 6-8 small meals a day ... and small portions....

good luck with the 1 meal a day deal
