here in my neck of the woods they sell the cigarettes that have some kind of band in them to cause them to go out if you don't take a puff every minute or two. supposed to keep people from burning themselves up. used to, i would set a cigarette in the ashtray and might touch it only once or twice. now, i gotta take a puff every 30 seconds to keep it from going out. i find myself taking some really hard puffs when i forget in order to get it going again. sometimes you'll be sitting there hitting it like a fucking joint. this has caused me to smoke much more of the cigarette than i used to.
i thought that was in all cigs now. i know here in ky the big name manufactures cigs have that. that was just another thing to convince me to finally quit for good, cause i know those big companies put all kinds of chemicals in the cigs, and not just the tobacco , the filters and paper too. There is no telling what kind of fire retardent chemical they have in the paper to make it want to go out if you don't keep puffing away.
The reason behind it, or at least what i heard or read around here, was all kinds of people fall asleep(pass out) while smoking and burn their homes down. I know here in Ky it has happened quite a bit, and it's usually some trailer or run down house, and it's some old grandmother on meds hooked to a oxygen tank that fell asleep and burned the home down and killed grandchildren, or it's some other parent on drugs or hooked on presribtion meds and burns their home down with the children in it, all because they were smoking and passed out.
I just quit for good, or so far, on my 36 B-day about 5 months ago.
I know nicotine is the worst additive thing i've ever had get a hold of me.
I've experimented with a lot of recreation drugs in my youth and none made me need it everyday like nicotine.
I remember years ago seing a program on nicotine and it's addiction , the show at the time said only heroin and crack ranked higher, but this was a while back before meth/crank and X and alot of the potent pain killer meds really caught on.
The thing about nicotine is where most drugs of some form either get you by a mental addiction or a physical addiction, but generally not both. Nicotine is rare in that it messes with you both mentally and physically.
