How long is too long for a book to respond to your email?

I notice many books respond within 20 minutes. I consider that top-notch. I find it odd that some can take over 24 hours to respond. What is the longest wait you will tolerate in order to consider the book to have adequate C/S?

1 hour mon - friday. Week ends a little longer but for crying out loud they should at least acknowledge it.

Should respond in 24 hours or take your problem to the forums.

Depending on the nature of the email, a simple enquiry about the books services or lines, I would say one hour maximum. If it is a withdrawal or more complicated issue that involves a manager investigating I would think 2 hours is acceptable.
Anybody thats gets responses over six hours or something like that.I would strat wondering if your book in based in an apartment and your 'CS Rep' is gone to the horses for the day.

JJ, I couldn't disagree with you anymore on that statement. First of all the email exchange may be to discuss questions a poster has, but even if it does go unanswered for more than 24 hrs then what is wrong with calling the book and asking to speak to a supervisor. Everytime I read a dispute it almost always starts with "I sent emails." If it involves money which most disputes always do then I would pick up the phone and call. Every book should have an 800 number, it seems as though those reluctant to call have something to hide, but thats just my opinion, I believe at least half the disputes we see on this board could have been resolved initially with a little live conversation between the Player and the Book.

Part of the reason I ask is that I emailed tcbets twice now. The first email took over 24 hours to get a response and the other one I sent just today (still no response). I don't have an account yet but am considering opening one there. Of course, the slow response time doesn't make me feel all that eager to sign-up. Anybody else have an experience at tcbets?

I think it has to do with the size and chain of command in a particular book.

I can email a simple question to Carib--it is answered in 15 minutes . I can send the SAME question to WSEX and it takes many hours if answered at all!
Yet I like both books.

peteep, there is no way I would join a book that did not respond to my email in 5 min during regular business hours but 24 hrs. would be gone, long gone!

An email acknowledging receipt of your message should be used. The book should then determine the severity of a reply.
